I dithered today about dyeing my hair...it has always been golden brown, but as there is a lot more grey than there used to be (I worry too much lol!) I dyed it earlier this year with blonde just to cover the grey close to my own shade.

Have just bought home a dark-brown so tonights the night....anyone of more mature years had a crazy desire to dye it purple or something?
I was tempted! one last frivolous moment lol

I did wonder..................I have been going grey since my twenties, so have coloured mine for years.

As I get older..............now 54.....I have gradually lightened it from dark brown to mid brown.

I daren't go lighter or my eyebrows will look really out of place...............like that politician with the white hair and black eyebrows! lol

Hi Rose ~~~waves~~~ to Hayley and Kitty.

I know exactky how you feel!!

My natural hair colour was very very dark brown, almost black. My eyebrows are black, and I have darkest brown eyes. My skin tone is quite Mediterranean, I think. But my silver bits are on the top half of my head, and the very dark bits are on the bottom half of my head!! So in order to, um enhance my hair colour, it has got to be very dark, as otherwise my natural dark hair doesn't change colour at all, while my silver goes carrotty! But at 53, I feel that I should be going a gentler brown.. a top hairdresser did it for me last time, and it is very dark!! Still not used to it. And the roots are showing badly after just 3 weeks. Sigh!! Why does hubby look distinguished with his silver locks, and I, well, don't!!

Hi Rose,

Kitty, I dye mine at home when I can, but when my shoulders are bad I can't reach to do it, so I get it done for me then.

Betty.................grey does show up more in dark hair...........my sister is fair and you can hardly notice her grey, mine is dark and the grey roots show really badly.

Daff...........my OH does mine, he is getting quite good now,....he's had the job for a few months now and will have to carry on until my frozen shoulder unfreezes.

Hellooo I 'm back from mowing the neighbour's grass lol
Thanks for the advice, it is not a 'permanent' colour just washes out over about 20 washes...so if it's a disaster it won't last too long! if I like it I can use a 'permanent colour' next time!

My eyebrows are dark anyway but it might make me look a bit 'peaky' lol we'll see!
