Has anyone discovered a famous or infamous rellie during their searching? My mum`s partners second cousin was the last person that Ned Kelly, shot!! My husband`s 4x great grandfather lived in the same house as Claire Francis, ( not at the same time), the yachts woman who sailed around the world. My Dad played the cavern before the Beatles, and his band`s name is on the same wall from the Cavern too. What about any you? Any funny or sad, rich or poor rellies???

Hi Jessica,

What was your dad's name,as I played the Cavern before the Beatles, and during their time.?
It was a Jazz club and I played piano for The Collegians who also have a Brick on the wall in Matthew St.
In fact Ray Mc Fall who used to run the club, bought a piano for me,as a lot of the trad bands didn't use a piano in the early days.
The Swinging Blue Jeans,Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, and the Beatles filled in the interval for us.
I have a programme for Jan 1960 which features us and Acker Bilk etc and lists supporting groups at the back.
Those were the days!!

My Grandmother's brother's wife's grandfather (I think) was General Louis Du Pont who served with Napoleon through his warring campaigns. When Napoleon fell Louis dropped the DU in his name in fear of repercussions.
My Great Aunt Lucy used to be housekeeper for Edward Heath (PM) and used to always laugh if she saw him on the television because once she threw a glass of water down the toilet not realizing his false teeth were in it and she had to fish them out of the toilet and of course never told him

My boyfriend is related to a footballer Alan Ball who died the other year but is unsure how he's placed in the tree. I'm related to a footballer called Syd Goodfellow but he moved down under.

rumour has that my family goes back to Oliver Cromwell - could be true cos he had a big connection with this area of Cardiff. Also have a rellie on my Mum's side who was transported to Oz in 1833 for sending a threatening letter to his employer.

I am back to 1641 on Dad's side of the tree and 1705 on mum's side.
Agricultural labourers, servants, gamekeepers, coal miners, private soldiers, sailors, washerwomen, charladies, hawkers, gypsies, bricklayer's labourer, miller, railway workers, painters, working class through and through and English every one. No one famous, no titles, no royalty - and no money inherited.

And I am proud of every one of them.
