When I was a little lad, my grand father Thomas Atkinson was I thought famous in our neighbourhood.

He had three wives, survived them all, fathered seven sons and six daughters.

Bit of deja vu here..........thought there was a similar thread to this already.

In my case every royal before Edward III (so William the Conqueror, King John etc).
Also Harold II who lost Hastings and Alfred the Great plus various interesting folks like El Cid and Lady Godiva.

It's amazing who turns out to be related or even descended from whom.

Funny feeling now when I read about them and know if they hadn't lived I wouldn't be here.

Nothing on my side but my husbands, brothers wife, is a direct descendant of the Earl of Babbington. He was the one who was beheaded at Traitor Gate for trying to help Mary Queen of Scots escape.

Went to Dethick in Derbyshire and he has a church there, wow, impressed I was lol.

I am back to 1641 on Dad's side of the tree and 1705 on mum's side.
Agricultural labourers, servants, gamekeepers, coal miners, private soldiers, sailors, washerwomen, charladies, hawkers, gypsies, bricklayer's labourer, miller, railway workers, painters, working class through and through and English every one. No one famous, no titles, no royalty - and no money inherited.

And I am proud of every one of them.
