Hi all,
My partner has been on Oramorph (Oral morphine) for the last year with no particular bad side effects. He is also using Fentanyl patched which also have morphine in (absobed through the skin like nicotine patches).
Main side effects are vivid dreams, dry mouth and occasional dizzyness.
As mentioned previously if morphine is taken for pain in the correct dose it is not addictive and does not prevent you carrying out normal day to day tasks. As per the instructions do not drink alcohol as it is an opiod.
Do not be afraid of taking this drug as it is highly effective and your doctor will keep a close eye on your usage.
Hope it works for you.

There is mention on here about morphine not being addictive. This is misleading, as it may be addictive, particularly if taken over long periods of time or by someone who has had previous addiction to drugs.

You may have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms when you stop using this medication after using it over a long period of time. Do not stop using morphine suddenly without first talking to your doctor. You may need to use less and less before you stop the medication completely.

This said it is safe to use if treated with respect, strictly as prescribed, and by the person for whom it was prescribed only.
