I have my maternal great grandmothers glass cake stand, i don't know much about it except my Nan (who is now 83 and the youngest in her family) says her Mum had it from before she was born.

On my Dad's side i have a silver compact that belonged to my Grandad's aunt, who brought him up, it was passed on to me by a relative i made contact with through this site. It must be at least 90 years old.

Both hold great sentimental value.

I have my gt grannies wedding ring, it has the most beautiful 3 pale blue 'solid' stones across it

it was hallmarked in 1881 in Chester

It is so thin now I don't wear it anymore

I also have 2 of the most ugliest plates that were hers aswell, black background with fruit yuk !!

I have a headscarf that belonged to my Gran she died in approx 1947, its got a Horses Head on it and I treasure it

I have the silver flatware that is listed in a marriage contract dated 1854 that belonged to my OH ggg grandmother Her initials are engraved on the handles. Also a lot of her jewelry. We have g grandfather's gold pocket watch that has the Hugenot cross and dove on the watch chain.
Rosemary - My OH g uncle was a lieutenant on the staff of Baden Powell and was one of those who helped form the Boy Scouts. He was the longest living member of the family - died when he was 103.

I have the dress my gran made to get married in, in 1925. My mum has birthday and christmas cards sent from my g and gg grandparents. these were very damp when we sorted grans house, but I managed to dry them out :o)
Loads of postcards, and my grandparents letters from when they were courting.
Mum also has a doll's china tea set brought back from his travels by my g grandfather for my gran.
My gran was cremated wearing her wedding ring, as she had never taken it off, even after grandad died 48 years before she did.

I have a mystery object.

It is an old watch chain with a small key and photograph attached.

The photo is a lady probably taken around 1900 or so, only head and shoulders, so difficult to tell.

It was among my parents possesions when we cleared their house.

Dad had died and Mum has alzheimers so is unable to help at all.

I will find out one day, I suppose.

I have a pair of socks that my mum knitted, (with help) while she was in the nursing home, she finished them only weeks before she died, they are purple, I treasure them.

I've got a prayer book belonging to my great-great grandmother with a curious bit of graffiti on the inside back cover. The book is dated 1869, but the following year she has written her name as Ann Hurst, not Ann Woodcock even though she was not married to John Hurst till 1871. I think she was trying her future name out.

i have my gt grandfathers police baton and gt nans glasses and a couple of other things like that original birth bcert... postcards etc

I wear my grandmother's wedding ring always. She was married in May 1923 and after her death my Mum wore it. When Mum died, it passed to me and it will go to my elder daughter after I die.
Considering how tiny my grandmother was, the ring is very heavy and made of 24 carat pink gold. It is beautiful and I treasure it and feel very close to both Nan and Mum when I'm wearing it.

I also have my Great Grandparents' dinner and tea service which was a wedding present in 1887. It is not complete as it was used for "Sunday best" by my grandparents and parents and a few pieces have got broken, but it is still beautiful.

I have my Great Grandfather's gold tie pin which both I and my daughter wore as our "something old" on our wedding days.

i have a bible which list's my grandmother and her siblings (with birth dates). also my grandfathers watch chain and tie pin,+the brouch he gave my nan. iris

We have the christening robe that was made for my OH over 73 years ago. Its nearly all the same with the exception that i had to remodel it in 1980 because the bodice was rotting . I made a new bodice but put lace and filigree on it from the old bodice.
its been to USA and Australia for other family christenings . Was last used about 4 years ago for the son of OH nieces boy.

I have my grandads mug/coffee can that dates from the 1830`s im not sure how he aquired it though its very coulourful and i always liked it.
also my grandmas cabinet that she got for her first wedding in 1924.

I have my great grandmothers clock she died in 1889 aged 29 also her husbands locket with his photo he wore it on a watch chain . June

I have 6 cups and saucers a teapot(with a broken spout) a sugar bowl and a large plate
which belonged to my gt grand parents
It has a rather ornate gold decoration round the edges which must have been hand painted because quite a lot of the pattern is uneven

I took it to the antiques road show and they said it dated from circa 1844 and was worth about £250
I don't think it was theirs though because they kept a pawn shop in the 1870;s and i think the set were unredeemed goods

I wear my Mother's wedding ring. I have a (I think it is a windsor) chair that belonged to my Grandfather , like a captains chair with a curved wooden back. I have a large upright wooden armchair that belonged to my grandmother's sister. i have a glass that was a golden wedding present to my Mother's parents. I have a letter written to my Great Great Great Grandmother from her employer in 1832. I have a piece of lace made by my Gt Grandmother.
