Oooopppps just signed my own.

Daughter has gone to ranger camp from yesterday until Saturday. Her bedroom is a pig sty and totally disgusting. Can't see the floor all sorts of stuff everywhere really awful. It's got so bad she can't even shut her door any more. Past threats etc have fallen on deaf ears, and we've had SO many battles over it I've simply given up. So on Saturday I warned her while she was away I was going to do it. She told me I wasn't to even enter her room So I started at 9am this morning took break at 11.30 to make some calls and do lunch for the boys. SO far have had three ful black bags even tho I have only cleared a space about metre square. Just going back to do another couple of hours, gonna be a long long job. Wish me luck when she comes home tho LOL

She makes a wonderful dream catcher though :)))

Funny enough I did take seom cos her Nan refuses to believe ehr little darling would let her room get in such a rotten state!! I wanted proof.

oooh god luck!! Put the bags in the loft and tell her you've thrown them at the tip!! Then when you give them back she will like you!! ;o)

Hi Shelli, your house, your rules. Your daughter is old enough to keep her own room tidy. My niece who is 14 is a bit the same, 5 minutes after she has tidied her room it is back where to it was. Don't know what the answere is though. Good luck anyway. Rosalind

You are brave. I decided long ago that it was their mess and I wasn't going to stress over it. It doesn't help the mess but it helped me. The worst thing I found in my son's room was a half eaten tin of something grey/green and furry. The label was the only thing that could identify that it had once been rice pudding. The cabin bed had too many places to put things, which were later forgotten when more junk piled on top. Son is very clean and particular now, so I wish you luck that this is just a phase for your daughter. Gwyn

Good luck Shelli! I did exactly the same with my daughter's bedroom a couple of months ago while she was on holiday in Spain. I chucked out 14 binbags full of rubbish, two organs and a chair! lol. We then decorated while we had a chance. She's back now and the floor is just about as bad again!

lol Shelli... I do this on a regular basis with daughters room!!! I go on the feeling that if she then moans that something has been thrown out, then she should keep it tidy herself and therefore keep hold of things she wants!!! Mind you after doing it about 4 times in the past year, it has stayed pretty tidy (for her) since I last did it in June!!! Clare x

I know how you feel. My girls are aged nearly 7, and 18 months. They share, and the carpet ends up full of bits of jigsaw, felt pens with no lids, broken crayons, screwed up paper, odd socks....I could go on. I've started making eldest tidy it twice a week, and giving her pocket money on Fridays as a reward. Sons bedroom is tiny, so its hard to keep it tidy. 9 years ago I had a 5 bedroom house, cleaner and aupair (and a very unhappy relationship with my ex!!) I've come down a peg or three now, but have a wonderful marriage.

Im just taking a break from doing Alex's room. Hes away in the Isle of Wight until Sat, so I have thrown his bed out (new one comes t'mor) empied all his wardrobe, draws etc and put new lino down. Curtains are now washed and hanged back up, windows are clean and Steve is juat sanding down the top of his desk ready to varnish. When he gets back I will have to put a stop to him eating in his bedroom........lol Mind your back Shelli lifting all that rubbish.

You can do one of 2 things: 1) If she gets pocket money(sorry how old is she? did you say?) make sure she earns it. I would suggest she spends some time a week ie saturday, cleaning her room. Children have to learn how to keep things tidy and their own space is one of them, if you don't teach them, they'll be like it when they're older too. 2) it's her space and if she wants to live like that, you could turn a blind eye. My step-daughter's room is always a mess. We have to give her a kick up the wossit once a week to tidy up. She's 19........so I reckon we've no hope with her. Her Dad has said she can p-off if she doesn't get her act together............er me, I'll just stick the kettle on.....& keep out..

Hi Shelli, I did Charlotte's last week - took me 3 days and yours sounds worse, so good luck pmsl !! Why not tell her you saw a mouse run into her room, so had to empty it out to find where it went?! or tell her that you had Kim and Aggie round to do it - all blame to be attached to them!! or you can threaten her with them if she lets it get that bad again. My son is 23 and I daren't go in his room.....even if I could get in there! His dirty washing is all over the floor until even he decides it's too disgusting to leave there. Then he brings it down in his dirty washing basket (memo :- don't buy one that folds when it's empty, because it stays like that for weeks!) dumps it in the kitchen and says ''Can you do this quickly cos I've run out of t-shirts''. Ummmmm........''No''. I have six dinner plates for everyday use, but normally there's only 2 in the cupboard as the rest are in his room, probably with week-old decomposing food on. It's a good job he doesn't drink tea or coffee or I'd have all my mugs up there too, turning green and furry like they used to when his brother lived here! My daughters were not quite so bad, but still very messy. Now the younger one is almost obsessive in her house about being tidy and constantly moans about the state of her son's room! What goes around, comes around! LOL Sue xx

well girls i spent all of yesterday in there 9am - 10 pmand will prob spend most of today as well :(( I didn't work fast tho and did stop for food and to referee the boys!! Sorted thru about half of it, and have binned six black bags already. Still have to venture under her loft bed. And i made the STUPID STUPID STUPID mistake of throwing her clothes on top of it, out of my way, to sort later. Well like Suzy, we've got a new bed going in there - had it since end of June, blocking up various pieces of house!! That was what spurred me on to do this, as am fed up with the matteress outside my bedroom door. Would like to decorate but will save that for alter date. To be honest i dunno who is worse her for making it that bad and living in it, or me for allowing her to get this bad. And you lot ain't helping by telling me it won't get any better, esp you Jeanette, she'd better not let it relapse. Suzy My back is fine, when bag is full I just yell for one of the boys to come and take it to the bin shed LOL Shirley, She's almost 15 (Oct) And no she doens't get pocket money. We kept forgetting to give it to her, so she'd add up the missed weeks and then collar us. We tend to buy most things for her, but she doesn't get anything more than our boys. She does do a paper round and has savings so if she wants money she uses that. And i cna't turn blind eyeany longer. Gwyn, I tried the your mess, you live in it route, but the fact it was creeping out of her room and on to the landing made it unbearable. And i agree the loft bed she's got is stuffed with gawd knows what underneath. Maz 3 days OMG, I was hoping to have Kerry's done in 3, but i really need to get it finished today ( HA HA just who am I trying to kid???) As the boys and I are covering her paper round plus the one she's covering!!! and that willbe fun won't it??? NO !!! So as I need to get it done today or at least as much of it as physically possible, am up early, to get myslef going. Cos if i stop for Wens I know I won't get started again. However can i just add the school uniform for the three boys is all ready and on the back of my bedroom door. Just need to buy some extra bits for twins :P But kerry's is now on her bed, just need to sort clothes. So am making some headway this summer I think LOL Sue She does that with her school unifrom waits until 10 at night and then says I need this for tomorrow, or the other one is I ahveno underwear!!!! last time she brought down her washing there was 3 loads just of her stuff. And yes her laundry bin does fold flat pmsl Clare Four times in the past year..... oh boy!!
