From what I have heard he enjoyed his job ...do a google on him and you will find his life story....obnoxious little man....seems to have had a killers mind himself.....His family were hangmen too sorry Joy..but From how he describes his job he doesn't come over as very nice. Update: Apologies....I was in fact thinking of Syd Dernley, ( a Hangmans Tale ) who had a rather goulish way of recounting his story as a hangman.

There was a program on sky about him . Was he the last hangman in England ? He only ever talked about his work to one friend and said the hardest job he ever had was hanging Ruth Ellis . ( think this is right ) xxx Kim

Albert visited Ruth Ellis.s grave after the execution and also spoke to her parents , he came across as a kind , understanding and very caring man . He said he had a job to do and was not there to judge the people he executed , his main concern was to get it right and release them from this life with dignity and respect .xxx Kim xxx

There's a DVD about him too. ('Pierrepoint') Probably done from a slightly different angle. It made me feel quite sorry for him. I had the impression that he didn't enjoy his job, but just did it to follow his father. Alf.
