Last night i was rooting about and found a picture of a house for sale. My G Grandmothers sister and OH had this house built in 1909. There is a picture of the most fantastic gallery landing and staircase. Oh they must have been well off. Shame her sister didn't do as well for herself :-)) Germaine x

Oh the house is gorgeous I have known about it all my life just never saw the inside, It was fascinating to see all the rooms. Not quite a million only 495K :-)) When it was built it was in a lovely position bu now not as good. Still nice. Had a whale of a time on the agents sites. Found that my Grandmother's old bungalow up for sale. That I could afford but no. Not a happy memories. Germaine x

Ah that would be lovely but I couldn't pull off even pretending to having £495,000. Oh yes near to me only on the edge of town. I pass it and look when on the bus. Have always wanted a picture. I do have one of my G G Grandparents sat on the front in 1913 ther 60th wedding anniversay. Germaine x Just thought I will have to keep an eye on it if it doesn't sell they may have an open day. Then I will have to put my best clobber one . :-))

Oh WOW! Why don't you take your 1913 picture along and ask if they mind you taking a photo now. They might offer to show you round if you say it was built by someone in your family. It has to be worth a try!! Janice

Germaine Report 16 Aug 2007 12:36

Oh never thought of that but don't think I have the nerve. I know no one would go with me so I would't dare go and ask on my own. Will just have to win the lotto.:-)) It is fab isn't it. I remember my Nana saying that when they used to go and visit it seemed so far away now it is only a few minutes on the bus from the top of our street. Germaine x

Just had a thought. Why don't you pop into the estate agents and tell them who built the house. Ask them to contact the owners to see if they would mind you visiting with your old photo. Janice

Germaine Report 16 Aug 2007 12:44

Oh Janice that would be good. Don't know any of our lot that live nearer enough. Hi Caz had their name on the houses . They must have had a few bob too. This one is named after something to do with my G G Aunts husband he was a Swedish Captain or something. No sure if it wasn't where he came from or not. Not been able to find that out yet. But his father was a cigar manufacturer. Germaine x

Last year I was taken to my great grand parents old house. How I would have loved to have gone in there. It reminded me of the house in Hansel and Gretal. It was in crieff and I dont understand why they sold that and moved into Glasgow.
