Hi Lou, I hope he gets better. Apparently he was stagggering around the stage at Manchester. Where are you going to be? We are sitting at the back. I'm too old to stand Gwynne |

Hello, Julie, Welcome to the morning cuppa thread. Dave, when I was a girl we had to put our wellies on and trudge to school. And keep our coats on all day if the heating wasn't working. By the time I started teaching the schools would close if the heating was broken. We're breeding a nation of wusses. lol Gwynne |

Gwynne...Yep I think you're right. When I was at school in the early 60's the boys had to wear short trousers whatever the weather and girls had to wear skirts. Boy were everyones knees red!!!...The killer was when the snow came over the top of your wellies!!... Julie x |

Hi Julie, I was threatened with detention for wearing a furry bonnet thing to school. We were supposed to wear the regulation juliet cap. I protested that I was wearing it under my furry bonnet. My Mum wrote a strong letter to the Head saying that sometimes I had to wait up to half an hour for the bus (we lived miles away) and that if I couldn't wear my furry bonnet she'd keep me off school. So I was allowed to wear it until I got on the bus. Gwynne |

Gwynne Primary school wasn't too bad compared to the Grammar School I went to at 11 yrs old...If we didn't wear our 'Baker Boy' hat (What were they all about???) going to and from school, any sixth former could give you a detention!! and if you ate sweets or (God forbid) chew chewing gum in the street, you were deemed as 'bringing the school into disrepute' I ask you! Can you imagine trying to enforce THAT rule nowadays??? |
