.....firing blanks! They've been at it now for over a week and there's nothing to show for their efforts. Or perhaps it's the lady-frogs that have a problem. I can't add frog spawn to my Springwatch sheet without evidence, can I? Any advice, please!!! ;-D

Donald I think your resident female must have died. The females stay by the water all year and the males go walkabout, or is that hopabout? Anyway, the males come back once a year and if there is no female, nothing happens! Keith ps:- I`ll leave that one to you Ali!

You can have some of my frogs!! They have been 'at it' for days now and the frog spawn is taking over the pond!! I have at least 5 pairs. The children at work asked if they could come and see my pond and frogs. I said I would take photos to show them. I took some nice ones especially of a really big frog. My 15 year old daughter was horrified that I was going to show 'that' picture. When I looked closely, I counted the legs. Whoops! Sex education for 3 year olds I can't do! Jacky :-) off to have a chat with the frogs.

on the main road near to where I live there is a sign 'Beware Toads Crossing' and they have plastic barriers on the hgih side of the road in order to catch the toads, then they are manhandled across the road to the spawing grounds. brenda

Do not panic. Frogs are cold blooded and need warmth to get going. We have just had a cold spell and they are only just stating to get the get up and go. Give u'm a week and they will do there thing.

What you have to do Brian is,when it gets dark,about 11o`clock would be fine, light a sweet smelling candle,place it on the edge of the pond,and sit by the pond,deckchair would be fine, play a copy of Handels Water Music on a tape player,and eat a plate of raw onion sandwiches,with a glass of Chardonnay to wash them down.
