Gave my notice in today and it feels great. I love my job but I felt that at 63 I need some time for me. The job was taking a lot of my time up and also getting in the way of holidays. Roll on Summer and I can sunbathe in the garden Been working for 35 years !!!!!!!

Margaret - well done you! Enjoy every moment of your well earned retirement. I always remember my dad saying after he retired that he was so busy he didn't know how he had ever had time to go to work!! Lucy x

Margaret, I have quoted this expression before. It is absolutely true and comes from france ' young old age is the time of your life'... get out and enjoy youself while most things are in place and hopefully working well. Happy days( from an older one, speaking from experience0.

Margaret, There is nothing like retirement. I have spent most of today, which has been cool and showery, doing patchwork and having breaks for a read. It is wonderful to have time for yourself. Enjoy a long and happy retirement. Rosemary(Essex)

Well done. But don't bank on getting a 'well deserved rest'. Most retired folk I know reckon they are even busier - although it makes an enormous difference doing what you want instead of what someone else wants. Len

Enjoy your retirement, Margaret. I am SO envious ! Next year I will have completed 40 years continuous full-time employment - and I'll still have 4 more years 'til I'm 60 !
