to B'ham childrens hospital. Was trying to copy the 'big boys' & jump over a ramp on his bike...came off & knocked himself out & injured his leg. This happened just a few minutes ago right outside my house on an open piece of land. Was still unconscious when helicopter took off....Poor thing, only broke up from school today. Sending positive thoughts his way. xx |

Sending positive thoughts to Alex. It's so sad that school holidays often mean busier hospital A&E departments. Hope he will be OK. |

I do hope both these lads come through ok and make a full recovery. Do we hazard a guess that they wore no safety helmets? When my son was small he always wore a cycle helmet as they were just becoming available, but unfortunately they still haven't become law, and until they do, we will always see children and young people especially injured and sometimes worse, from taking a chance. Have to say my son doesn't always wear his now, but he is an adult and has to take his own decisions. Children don't know enough to take that risk. |

This is obviously the latest craze my son is 11 and one of his friends yesterday was one of 3 boys lying below the ramp got nervous and went to change his mind and his other friend on the bike couldn't stop in time fortunately he was released from hospital with cuts to his face and slight concussion. My sons bike needs a repair done on it but I'm now wondering if I should bother even though his really sensible for his age, he had also layed on the floor a couple of times he has told me.Hopefully they have learnt a lesson from this. D. Hope little Alex is o.k. |

Poor wee man...his parents must be in a right state.I'm not religious but will say a prayer for his recovery. My own son was hit by joyriders a number of years ago.He was coming out of the sweet shop when this car ploughed into him.To make matters worse, the driver jumped out and pulled him over to the side of the road.Only for the quick thinking of people who witnessed it,they stopped driver from taking taking off again!! My son,who was 5, was in the intensive care unit for a week. I do believe the prayers and thoughts from well wishers helped. So lots of good thoughts going out to this poor wee boy. Hop-a-long. |
