I also do not ever use my mobile whilst driving, but it seems everyone else around here do! I was on the understanding it was now a NO-NO! But I always see people doing it! Maz x

It's not me, but I saw a guy yesterday driving down the road with his mobile stuck to his ear. So he must be one of the four. Wonder who the others are.

The answer's so simple - say to the caller, 'hang on while I pull over', then chat. If any of you reading this think I want certifying for this suggestion - think how you'd feel if you killed someone whilst your concentration was diverted. Lily

I got a new mobile a few weeks back and it has an ear piece, great, plug into phone --into ear and bingo. Thought I wouldn't be able to hear the caller or they wouldn't be able to hear me but it is great. Just like talking to someone next to you, not at all like being on the mobile. No excuse everyone should have one. Gloria x

Nicola Report 4 Aug 2005 11:41

I drive for a living and would not be without my hands-free kit if for whatever reason i never had it i would simply not answer the phone (your phone will log the call and if it's that important they will call back) there is no need to answer while driving let alone chat. this really makes me cross as people are not paying attention, crossing lanes and generally being a pain in the **** Nicky.x

Unknown Report 4 Aug 2005 11:48

I live for driving and I agree. If my handsfree kit isn't set up I will pull over before I will answer a phone call.

I drive to work including London, and it seems that as many people are on hand-held mobiles whilst driving as before it became illegal.

I have a handsfree kit in my car as it's an ex-company car.....but I tend not to use it coz i don't like it. That doesn't mean that i talk when i drive tho..... When ever i get in the car, I put the phone onto Silent and hide it in my bag so I don't know if people are tyring to get to me! c x

I NEVER answer my phone or make calls when I'm driving. It is illegal and irresponsible for anyone to use their mobile whilst they drive. I have no experience of hands-free. Viv

WhackyJackieInOz Report 4 Aug 2005 16:10

I do a lot of driving at least 300Kms per week and I never start the car without my hands Free set plugged into my ear. My hubby always checks on me as I am leaving anyway so I never forget lol. There was over 1000 people in Perth on one day alone got caught using mobiles while driving last week. For the sake of a hands free kit $20 they would rather get a hefty fine. Silly and dangerous Regards Jackie

Where I live, bus drivers are the worst culprits, for using their phones while driving Liz

June Report 6 Aug 2005 15:55

I have never used my phone while driving even before the law came in. I know i am not able to do both, drive and balance a phone. My family and friends have always known wouldn't answer when I'm driving so they wait for me to ring back. June xx

I have enough problems using a phone when I'm doing nothing else - I can't multitask with the phone at all so never bothered when driving even before it became illegal Beth :) I did see a driving instructor texting away whilst driving shortly after the new law. I was just so jealous that he could text quicker than me when he was only using one hand than I can manage with both hands and no other distractions - sob, sob.

I don't drive but I hate seeing people driving and using mobiles at the same time. I think they're ignorant and irresponsible.
