Oh Linda, Now that we have all had a good laugh, are you OK? Dont worry about Cleveleys, remember we had the sea walls reinforced there to hold the tide back, lol Hugs, June xx

June do you really trust those walls I don't. Mind you at Rossall they look like prison walls so should really keep it back. Germaine x

Germaine, I haven't a lot of faith in them either, when the sea decides to come inland, nothing will stand in its way. As you say, the walls at Rossall are horrible, the people there should get a Council Tax Rebate. June xx

Too true June. I remember when we came back to Fleetwood in 1977 and was looking for a house someone said oh go up Larkholme I said no don't trust the wall oh it is fine they said 2 weeks later over it came. Then they built that montrosity Like you say they should get a rebate. not sure if the wall was there first though. It has been over since then too so can't stop it if it wants to come over it will. I dont think its ever been as bad as 1977 and then there was the St Michael floods too. My heart goes out to the people that suffered, I know some still live in fear when there are storms and the wind is in that direction. I was then living in Thornton Cleveleys and fortuneately wasn't flooded. June xx

Yes it came over in 1987 but not as bad as 77. I feel sorry too for the people like you said in St Micheals that was bad. Sorry Linda this was your thread now we are on about floods funny how conversations get changed, at least you know if ever you decide to live over here stay away from the wall lol!!!. Germaine x

Hi Linda I do hope all is OK now and that your bruises are not too bad. It's good to see that you can see the funny side of things. It brought back memories of my Dad. He had Parkinson's and Paget's Disease and for the last five years of his life was in a Wheelchair. Mum had to go do some shopping one day and left him on his own for a couple of hours. He decided to take himself of to the Pub (while the mice away) lol. He had to cross a busy road and did not have a Motorized Wheelchair. Anyway he had one too many to drink at the Pub and wheeled himself back home. (How he got there we don't know lol) He tried to get up 2 steps with his wheelchair and it toppled over hence he broke his leg. He was as drunk as a lord laid on the path when Mum arrived. She phoned for Ambulance and the the Ambulance men got him on a stretcher while Dad was singing Roll out the Barrel all the way to the hospital. Mum said she could have crawled away and died with embarrasment lol. Dad always saw the funny side of things even though he was an invalid. Have a Nice Day Regards Jackie
