My 11 year old son fell off his bike yesterday whilst tring to avoid a pedestrian, result broken wrist, 5 stitches in his chin, swollen jaw, no skin left on collar bone, bruised and cut shoulders, huge bruise on left knee and twisted ankle. I would just like to say to the lady who carried on walking without checking to see if he was ok THANKS. Lisa xx |

HI Hope he's OK? Just asking was he on the pavement or roadside? Lucky if on pavemnt and no cars about goodness knows how much more worse this could have been. But there again this 'cow' could have kids and thought 'They're always coming off the bikes nowt wrong he'll be alright'. Like was said earlier how uncaring though. Wendy |

Oh what a shame the poor thing! A very simular thing happen last year to my ten year old, she was riding down our street and a car driver who had parked up just swung the car door open and my daughter swerved to miss it and ended up in a right old state, cut to peices, the young woman or should I say Moron who opened her car door without looking first was more concerned that my daughter had got blood on her top which cost £30 as my daughter ran to her ,arms outstretched in a panic!, so I kindly reminded her that she was lucky it was my daughter and not another car as she would have lost the door of her car which would have been more than thirty quid if another vehicle had hit it. People like that make me so angry, I really do hope your young one gets better quickly. Marie |

He was riding on the grass alongside the pavement but when he came of went over the handlebars and landed face first on the pavement. Yes he was very lucky not to have ended up on the road and it could have been much, much worse.(had a few tears myself today) I will probarbly get a speeding ticket in the next few days as i didn't spare the horses on the way to hospital. Liam has just gone up to comp last week and is really enjoying it but he will be off for at least a few weeks whilst he recovers, he is also right handed and thats the wrist he has broken. He is being very brave and i'm very proud of him. Thanks for all your good wishes when he is a bit better i will show him. Lisa xx |

where was the pedestrian? It is a hard thing to say but he was possibly going too fast and really , the pedestrian probably had right of way if they were on the path or the verge. I am sorry he is hurt though jess |

Off to hospital today to have wrist replastered and xrays on jaw. Had his stiches redressed yesterday and he asked to see his face, lots more tears (he has also taken all the skin of his chin so is very red and raw). Had a better night last night so on the up ... Lisa xx |

My thoughts are with you and your son Lisa. What a hardfaced woman, one day she may be lying on the ground injured, or otherwise, maybe she will then realise how it feels. The trouble with this world today, people dont care enough! Whether he was riding fast or not is irrelevant! June xx |

Hi Lisa, I've just read your thread and I'm also disgusted at this woman's attitude! As far as I'm aware, children ARE allowed to ride their bikes on the pavement/footpath, unless there are signs saying no bikes are allowed. I hope your son makes a full recovery very soon.# If I were you, I'd contact the local newspaper and ask them to feature the story as a reminder to other people not to just 'walk on by'. CB >|< |

I really hope that Liam will soon be better. I just cannot believe these people that can just leave a young lad like him injured on the pavement!! It just beggars belief. |

I hope Liam's feeling a bit better, some people don't care do they? just hope they get what they deserve. My grandson had a bad accident and ripped his whole leg open. Mum went to the place which was down a single track, followed by the ambulance, a woman in a 4x4 coming the oppoisite way refused both mum and ambulance driver to reverse to a passing place - Mum AND Ambulance had back to the main road??????? everyone too worried to have it out with her. Son had an operation on his leg it was so bad? OK now though |

Hi Lisa, I hope that the op goes well for your son today and that he is soon feeling better. I am sorry that he has suffered this experience. It is awful that some people are so uncaring. I wonder how the woman would have felt if it had been her child. Jill xx |
