strange things some folks say? whats god got to do with it? I am proud to say I am and all my family are Atheists we are not missing anything. I have to agree with Roxanne & Debby. But surely Parents have a responsiblity to bring their children up with certain values. I have and so far I have to say i am proud of my children they are even less rebellious than I was. Pat x |

Hi John NZ How are you? I await our Film Premier for the Winter ;-) hope we meet again soon on there with the regulars and others who may want a little something different. Well I think you know and hopefully will accept I am Godless but no way am I or my family who are also Godless self centred or less for it. Pat x I deleted my rant and apologise to you Daniel, I should not have gone on. |

I agree with you Pat. Godless people are sometimes better that god-faring ones and the self-centred can be mixture of both. You probably gathered from some of my comments in the past that I go to church. I remember some 30 years ago I went with a friend from work to a church gathering of younger people and was confronted my someone who said 'if you had a stronger faith your leg would grow back' - need to say I quickly left that meeting visibly upset. Perhaps I was a tad sensitive then but it was also around the time my wife was unwell in hospital expecting our only child. |

Really interesting question and it's sad to see how some people see society. I'd say caring but needy and isolated. |

I'm agnostic it doesn't matter if society is 'Godless' (whatever that actually means) What is important is that society behaves in a kind, caring and respectful way. It's not religion, it's just good manners. |

I'd agree with that Daniel - I'm religious myself but don't worry whether anyone else shares my beliefs. What I do think is that some of (what I see as) the more important morals from religions (such as doing unto others etc) as opposed to the more judgemental ones (don't do this cos the Bible says so etc) make life nicer for everyone, wherever you get them from. |

Well said Daniel. When I think of a 'godless' society I think of a society that has rejected the VALUES of religion ie, they don't treat other people as they would be treated, or value their elders, or respect property ect. I think we ARE a godless society. I am not religious, but I see 'godless' as meaning valueless as well as un religious. Of course there are lots of good, and worthy people who are without a religion, but I don't expect everyone who went to church every sunday in Victorian times actually trully believed, but they had a good moral grounding......I'll stop talking rubish now. I never was very good at explaining myself, But yes I think todays societ in general is godless, lacking in good moral values, and very selfish. Claire xx |
