Just put something in the microwave only to be asailed by an awful stench of 'smoke' as if something is 'burning out' !?!?!?! I think a few grains of sugar stuck to the pot - could it be that or is it about to die on me ?????? |

You cook in a microwave --- arn't they a bit dogey....???? only use mine to defost stuff that I have forgotten to get out of the freezer..... Lyndax |

Well if it stinks with water....leave it....must be something wrong XX Either that or check roof for any stuck on things that could be burning |

I'd be inclined to say it's the microwave on it's way to the grave. I would expect sugar to melt and form a sticky blob before going black. and it has a distinct smell Turn OFF microwave and DO NOT USE until it has been seen by an electrition!!!!!!!!! |

Lunar - it was only a few grains of sugar and wasn't on long enough for them to burn - I know that smell......... This is definitely an electrical burning kind of smell :O( Oh bottoms !!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Just spoke to Daddy lol He says defo sounds like it needs avoiding :O( I'm sat here thinking - but I'm hungry - then I remembered I have a stove PMSL - so I can do it the old-fashioned way lol Told Mum to return all my pressies and replace them with a microwave lol........... Dad just phoned back to say Mum will get me one in the sales if I can last till after xmas - bless her - does she realise how long a jacket potato takes in an oven ???? lol Thanks for all your help :O) |

Not yet Julie lol I have an electric stove - with solid hobs which take an age to heat up - and then I have copper bottomed saucepans too - should take about an hour for the heat to reach the s'getti pmsl |
