McAnne's Gahan-Crazy Report 13 Jan 2006 11:07

Do any of you knit those lovely scrumptious scarves we are all wearing - you know the ones made out of that lovely 'fringed' wool :O)) My friend in Florida has sent me 3 so far. Thought it would be nice to do one myself - what size needles would you use??? Looked at some wool yesterday and it said UK8/4mm which seemed too small to me .............

8s or 7s would be about right, depends on the pattern....

I did some for Christmas pressies - used no 8 needles, 20 stitches and plain knitting. But do NOT drop a stitch !!!! - virtually impossible to pick it up, I had to pull out and start again. Jay

If its in rib and no big holey pattern, I would go for larger needles, perhaps a 6. Is she doing it in double knit or chunky?

Hi Anne I just finished one......was lucky, saw balls of wool in a POUND SHOP!!! so it only cost me £2 Has been admired by lots of folks!! LOL You need to use (english) size 5mm...........I cast on 25 stitches + it was plenty wide enough. 2 Balls (50g)will be enough BUT if you want to put 30 stitches on , then you may need another ball. I just did PLAIN KNIT throughout. Happy Knitting:) Ann
