You may recall, Dave was on the commitee of our club....many probs....got banned from club for having an opinion.....then our friend Lyn died last wednesday (her hubby is steward of the said club)......anyway......the family asked that Dave attend the wake (at the club)......the commitee have said NO!!!! The ban still holds, even for that one day! Thank god Lyn cannot be aware of this......her family are so upset as Dave is good friends with them. Sorry to moan, but its keeping me awake, im so mad!! Donna

Dave did one thing wrong.....he spoke for the members!! Commitee didnt agree with him.

Although it won't help for the present problem, get the members to vote the committee out at next AGM

Thats the whole thing, Dave brought about an AGM, committee didnt like it, so he got banned for life!! ps, sorry EGM

That is awful Donna. How low can they go? If I were Dave, I would stand outside the door and attend the wake. How can they ban him from a sidewalk? Deb

Ray has been stewrad for 25 yrs, his late wife helped in all those years....god im so mad. Dave will attend the service and he and i will go else where and have a drink for Lyn ps, can i add, Ray and daughters begged the commitee...to no avail.

Donna I cant see the committee banning anyone from a building just for disagreeing with them. Banned from the committee maybe, but not from the building . Are the family of the deceased all members also ? Are any of them non members ? If so Dave has the right as a mourner to join the mourners party so to to speak, if its a private function. Elaine x

Elaine, Actually you're wrong there, sorry. If someone is banned from a club, then they are banned, whether its a club function or a private function. We have people who are barred from our club and they would not get through the door whatever the occasion, if we didn't want them to. (not saying whats happened is right, just clarifying) Paul

sorry to hear about your friend ...didnt add but read the thread even the club where we work let barred members in for such occasions.... the only way to get a fresh committee is for others to put up against them at the end of their year......hoping that they dont get voted back on ann xx

That is so bad. I think Dave is better off not being a member of that club. So sad that they can't even let him mourn a friend. Germaine x

Donna I remember when this happened to Dave it once happened in a club I was a member of I was so disgustted i left and have never joined one since the ones that make the rules think they are god tell Dave its there loss but sad that you cant send a friend off as you would wish Howardxxx

Whatever the rights and wrongs of Dave's relationship (or non-relationship!!!) with the committee, it is ridiculous that he can't attend a function where his presence would be of comfort to bereaved people. When I read your message Donna, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry - I don't think its sad or bad, I think its MAD!!!!! Thinking of you both, love Nell & Mel

What miserable tiny little lives these people lead. Horrible for you and Dave and horrible for Lyn's family. But the most important thing is that you will be at the funeral for her, the Wake is mostly for the family and hopefully they all understand the problem. As you say, you and Dave go and have a drink to Lyn elsewhere, don't let them spoil your memories of Lyn. Ann Glos

Donna they seem very petty and putting their own feelings first rather than those of the family at such a difficult time. I hope they realise this in time and relent but if not then the most important thing is to be at the funeral and the family will know that you wanted to be with them afterwards too. Sue
