Are the British friendly? I think so and find it interesting that whole nations get steryotyped. The British are renowned for their reserve, but on the whole I find being in Britian a 'friendlier' experience that being here in the USA. That's not to say that Americans are not friendly, quite the opposite but as a Briton I find their 'friendliness' OTT and insincere. On occasion, people I've never met before greet me as if I'm their long lost relative, compliment me on things thay can't know anything about or are much too personal to my mind and hug and touch me in ways I find intrusive. Once again, it all seems to depend on perspective as other nations find the British 'reserved'/'unfriendly'. |

I started out in Sarf London was brought up in Norf London & I now live in Ireland and there is no way the Irish are anymore friendly than the people of London. The Londoners are a little more reserved and the Irish are a little more nosey lol. But people are people and they are all different. I really don't like generalising too much but there is a difference between people living in Big Cities and those living in small Towns and villages thats where the difference shows. The more people that say things like (these people are friendly or these others are not) the more people believe it to be fact. :-( Pat x |
