It’s ‘cutting the apron strings’ time for me! Our 17-year-old son, Jordan, has gone off on his first school trip abroad and is currently many thousand miles up in the air. It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t mind flying myself, but I hate it and consequently hate the thought of him being up there! Mind you, it appears that, in true Jordan style, he has already entertained the troops by getting searched going through check in. Apparently he forgot to remove his Medic Alert bracelet before going through the scanner. Durr, typical teenager lol! I know that he is going to have a fantastic time and their schedule is crammed full every day…but I still miss my baby. He’s back on Thursday morning, yippee! Mandy :(

Paul I was so excited to go on a secondary school trip to London (from Plymouth) so times certainly have changed! With him being an only child, and epileptic, it would be very easy to wrap him in cotton wool and not let him do anything, but we are determined that he will live life to the full and have a great time. Still miss him though ....... LOL!! Mandy :)

Mandy I know just how you are feeling, but he will be fine he will have a fantastic time. I still worry my eldest is in New Zealand gone back packing for a year and he is 34, you never stop worrying how ever old they are, all my three sons have gone all over the world at different times in their lives and I fret terrible, but my son rings me once a fortnight emails once a week and sends me little text messages so I know he is ok. We never got the opportunity like they have today. Sue...............

Hi Mandy, he'll have a smashing time out there. I know that at some point this comes to us mums and dads, but I'll bet nobody's ever truly prepared for it! I like Ann's suggestion! Nice one, Ann! x

Annie That's strange, the son of some old friends of ours flew over there yesterday. Tell your son and g/f to steer well clear of dodgy looking sixth-formers lol! Ann Thanks for hugs - not so sure about Valentine's suggestion though ;) Mandy :)

Ann, small world! These are staying at a motel-type place on Broadway. I think it's pretty basic but so convenient for everything they're seeing. They really only need somewhere to lay their head at night lol! Mandy :)
