Well thanks to BA not updating that particular flight's information (blooming typical eh?!), we had to wait for his text to confirm he'd arrived. Just before 2am, got a text - 'hav arrived'. Man of few words, my son pmsl! Mandy :)

Wow Mandy - New York! Lucky Jordan. Hope he doesn't lose his coat, and brings you something lovely back. Bet he's worrying about you worrying about him etc etc - it is so hard when you want to protect your kids but you have to let them try things - it wouldn't be fair to say no just to stop our worrying would it? I am sure he will be fine and have a great time, just give the dogs an extra cuddle instead. Take care, nice to see you on here again. Liz

Mandy, Good choice with the coat, my hubby has a similar one and he says it keeps him really warm, we have had the snow coming down since lunch time and the weather channel says that all the cities and states that are due to get it are ready!! We have just been out and bought a boogie board thing for the kids to go sledging on tomorrow.. Hope he has a great time, we are taking our eldest next month there so that he can celebrate his 13th in the 'big apple'!! Debs x

Hi Debs Thanks for info. Luckily, the school gave us lots of advice on what clothing to take, because they do this trip with the 6th form same time each year. We bought him a lovely coat which is really thin and lightweight but has got some sort of polar lining so very warm. Knowing him, he'll leave it behind though! He's got hat and gloves, plus loads of layers, and I even put insoles in his walking shoes, so he *should* be ok. With teenagers, you never can tell though. Supposed to be snow there today and tomorrow. Mandy :)

Mandy, I hope he has bought his thermals!! Check the forecast, we here are under heavy snow warning and I know its about to hit New York and go up the east coast.. Apparently its going to cost New York a million $$$$ per inch and I think they are due to get about 12 inches of snow, sure we are about to get the same, its been snowing for most of today! Debs x

Ann, small world! These are staying at a motel-type place on Broadway. I think it's pretty basic but so convenient for everything they're seeing. They really only need somewhere to lay their head at night lol! Mandy :)

Annie That's strange, the son of some old friends of ours flew over there yesterday. Tell your son and g/f to steer well clear of dodgy looking sixth-formers lol! Ann Thanks for hugs - not so sure about Valentine's suggestion though ;) Mandy :)

Hi Mandy, he'll have a smashing time out there. I know that at some point this comes to us mums and dads, but I'll bet nobody's ever truly prepared for it! I like Ann's suggestion! Nice one, Ann! x

Mandy I know just how you are feeling, but he will be fine he will have a fantastic time. I still worry my eldest is in New Zealand gone back packing for a year and he is 34, you never stop worrying how ever old they are, all my three sons have gone all over the world at different times in their lives and I fret terrible, but my son rings me once a fortnight emails once a week and sends me little text messages so I know he is ok. We never got the opportunity like they have today. Sue...............
