For years now i have wanted to be a plumber. I have always wanted to do this, and my ambition is to build my own business and maybe make it a 'females only' plumbing company, where we work for , -Elderly people -single mums -ladies living on there own -housewifes This is because of all the trouble these kind of people get with Cowboys and theifs, you know the people who turn up and say there plumbers where really all there gonna do is mug you!? Ive been told there is a real shortage of female plumbers, and im stuck in such a rut at the moment i really want to give it a shot. Clare is at the moment building a pack of infomation up for me with info on how to get funding to be a plumber, courses, colleges, night school. When i went home last night i told all my friends and you knwo what they did, sat there laughed and all said i wouldnt make it. If thats what my closest friends think do i really have a chance of making it or do you think i should quit while im ahead and just stick with a job that just isnt for me??? xxx

Become a plumber and b******s to what your friends think, they just don't have the scope of imagination and maturity to imagine anything from the norm! Be a plumber!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted to be an architect but was told girls can't be architects and I have always regretted not following my dream! Julie xxx

Steedie, this is a brilliant idea, as long as you dont mind shifting a backlog of poo and stuff occasionally :-)) I have said this to my neice who is 18, forget college I told her, become a plumber and makes sure you are good, polite, clean and tidy up after yourself and it will be a licence to print money, there is defintately a shortage of good honest clean plumbers of either sex and being a female will make you appeal to the females of this world, good luck and well done on a brill idea, of course you can do it, If a man can then I am sure that a woman can do it equally if not better than a male You go girl!!!!

My husband is a plumber and has his own company.I have seen him come home and strip off in the garden where he has been up to his waist in poo.If you dont mind them sort of jobs then go for it.We can do the same as men.its been proved all the time. Annie

Oh my God!!! I've always wanted to be a plumber too - I'm really good at it and pretty much self taught but I can plumb in a bathroom on my own etc I'll be your business partner if you like. Can we have our vans spray painted pink tho?? WIth glittery lettering My other plumbing like busines v enture would be a company actually called Cowboy Traders - also aimed at single women - whereby whatever workman you need comes round to teh house and does your plumbing, electrics, tiling or whatever but they do it dressed as a cowboy - stetson, chaps, checked shirt - only all the young hunky tradesmen I've asked to join me have laughed at it Z xx

People will pay practically anything to stop water/sewage running all over their houses. But you will need to get au fait with the latest boilers etc which all look like nuclear reactors to me! nell

Steph, you only get one chance at life. You follow your dreams, and if you fail you will have given it your best shot. Do you know a plumber who you could 'shadow' for a day to really get an idea of the work they do? Ann Glos
