Just had a rather strange letter from an anonymous person. Complaining about my dog. Saying that I dont look after it etc.etc. and why dont I give it to the RSPCA. i am so shocked as I take him to the beach every day and he has a good run and even swims in the sea in the warmer weather. How dare they!!!! What am i supposed to do now?? We got the dog to stop the robbing ******** round our way coming into the garden and he does bark if anybody comes near the gate. |

Gloria, Take no notice of it honey. There are people who have nothing better to do than to try to upset other people and watch how it affects them!! I think that your dog is doing his job if he is protecting his home. From the sounds of it you love him very much and he is well cared for. As for what to do about the letter IGNORE it!! Susie xx |

Gloria, No I would keep the letter. If you have any trouble you can use it as evidence of harrassment. I would speak to your neighbours either side and ask them if they have any problems with your dog or of you dog has been bothering them. (in a nice friendly way) If there are issues hopefully they will tell you and something can be either discussed or resolved. If they are fine with your dog, let them know of the letter, they may if things go nasty back you up if backing up is needed. Elaine x ps Can you please remove the swear word from your posting please ? |

Gloria, How awful for you, I am so sorry. I know its difficult, but do try to rise above such petty and spiteful behaviour. Take a deep breath, put the letter in the bin and give your dog a big hug. The person who wrote this hasn't even got the guts to sign their name - what a coward! Liz x |

I know how you feel. Many years ago we received a very abusive letter and it really affected me quite badly as my dog was very well cared for and much loved. We asked the neighbours on both sides if he barked whilst we were out (he had access to the garden) and they said the only time they heard him was when he howled at the chimes of the ice-cream van ! We assumed it was this behaviour that the letter writer objected to. After that we didn't allow him in the garden when we weren't there - more for his safety and protection than anything else. We never found out who wrote the letter but I didn't feel comfortable living in that road afterwards. Fortunately we were able to move within a year or so. |

Keep the letter Gloria, There are some people out there just asking for ASBO's. I know it's not very nice receiving this type of letter, but as other members have said, these people are just spiteful and have nothing better to do. You would be surprised at the amount of trouble they can cause if they realy put their minds to it. I don't wish to be a worry monger, but this last two years, two members of my family have experienced this type of petty mindedness from neighbours. One to the popint where they had to move house to get away from it as it made them ill. And the other member of my family who was actually assaulted in his own home by such a person, and had to get the police involved. I'm not suggesting that this will escalate into anything like as bad and I certainly hope it doesn't. But it is better to have this kind of thing documented. Wish you the best of luck Gloria. Ignore it Gloryer if you can........ I know it is upsetting but any one who does not put their name to a letter is witless and rude. It is more important that your dog makes his presence known if strangers are about. Jean x. |

Have removed the swearing. Sorry. just feel so angry as we dont have anything to do with the people that live near us as most of them are crooks or have crooked ways. I feel threatened by the letter and wanted to take it to the cop shop but hubby says just ignore it. Most of the people round here know that I take my dog to the beach as i look a right state when i come back if I have been jogging with him, sweat pouring of my face and busting to go to the toilet!!!! |

Was the letter delivered by the postman or just posted through when you where out? As I would invest in a security camera (colour) pointing at the door, I got one last week from ALDI £25.00 plugs straight into the video to tape - catch them at it. It's probley some coward who smiles to your face. Lou |

Gloria, Keep the letter for future reference in case you have any more trouble, but ignore it for now. Our dog is a water baby and loves the sea, even in winter we can't keep her out. Partner took her on the beach one day with her stick, she drops her stick for you to throw it in the sea for her to retrieve it. An elderly lady approached him on the beach - said she'd been watching through binoculars and was appalled at his cruelty, taking the poor dogs toy and deliberately throwing it in the water. Said she had phoned the RSPCA to report him, and had given them his car reg number. We never heard another word from anybody. I was incensed because partner loves animals, is always rescuing things and looking after them and it seemed so injust that anyone could accuse him of cruelty to an animal - people he can be abrupt with, but an animal, NEVER. Gloryer, Try not to worry too much, It sounds like it was ment to upset you, so try not to let it. People can be so mean sometimes. I'm sure you do look after your dog very well, and even if the RSPCA came to visit they would know it was well cared for, unfortunatly they do get a lot of malicious calls from people claiming the animal is ill treated purely to upset the owner. I had a lady on Genes accuse me of not looking after my lot and all she'd seen was the photos on the photos page... I thanked her politely for taking time to enquire if they were properly treated and assured her they were.... Still 'stung' a bit as my lot live like princesses. I would keep the letter, if it becomes a regular thing (recieving upsetting mail) take it to the police... Otherwise, enjoy your dog, hold your head up high (even when soked wet with sweat and desperate for the loo) lol, and, anyway...... I for one am fed up of people complaining about dogs barking, i refuse to stop mine from 'talking' and am lucky my neighbours enjoy them too..... |

oh my Jay.. I have trouble keeping my dog out of the sea in cold weather. Especially when the tide is rough. He stands wagging his tail waiting for me to throw something in the water to fetch it. He takes a running jump and puts his head high in the air so it does not go under the water. I dont make him do it he just loves it or wouldnt be interested in going in. The letter was delivered by the postman addressed to the occupier!!! |
