Gwynne, That is the one I want. Has been a favourite since school. Apparently also known as Be thou my vision. Diana, I am sure whatever you choose will be appreciated by all. Jacky :-)

Hope you are feeling better Diana. This is a lovely hymn. Faith of our Fathers : Frederick W. Faber, Jesus and Mary (London: 1849); refrain by James G. Walton, 1874. This hymn was sung at the funeral of American president Franklin Roosevelt, held in the East Room of the White House in Washington, DC. to listen to it and hear the words. http://www*cyberhymnal*org/htm/f/a/faithoof*htm Hope you feel a little better. I do know what it is like. Germaine xxxx

For my grandparents we had: On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross Prayer of St. Francis (Make me a channel of your peace) Cwm Rhondda (Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah,) The Lord’s my Shepherd I know we had 3 hymns for each of them but I can't remember the others just now. This site has quite a few hymes http://www.hymns.me.uk/funeral-hymns.htm Follow your heart and you can't go wrong. (((xxx)))

Sorry to hear of your loss pink. Abide With Me is great for the football supporter, (FA cup hymn) but my personal favourite would be Jerusalem. Hope it all goes ok. xx

I also like ''How Great Thou Art'' another friend had Lord of the Dance (its an old Shaker hymn) because she said she didn't want anyone to feel miserable. She went out to ''Macavity'' from the musical CATS - which did make us all smile.

Diana, If you google merryleachurch and go to the website, there are lots of suggestions of suitable music. if you then google a title, you can see the words and often hear the tune too. A personal favourite of mine is the Peace hymn: 1. Make me a channel of your peace: Where there is hatred, let me bring you love; Where there is injury, your healing pow'r, And where there's doubt, true faith in you. 2. Make me a channel of your peace: Where there's despair in life let me bring hope; Where there is darkness, - only light, And where there's sadness, ever joy. 3. O Spirit, grant that I may never seek So much to be consolded as to console, To be understood as to understand, To be loved as to love with all my soul - . 4. Make me a channel of your peace. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, In giving to all that we receive, And in dying that we're born to eternal life. Hope this may help you in your decision. Jay

My sympathies in your loss........hope you find comfort. May I suggest......... 'The King of Love my Shepherd is' It's a version of the 23rd psalm, but with a more melodic tune. If you google funeral hymns, you can listen to it online............ I want Jerusalem at mine......... Reg

If you have no personal preference, how about The Lord's my Shepherd? Probably his peers would know that, and younger people, too. Thinking of you, Joy

Lovly words that may help: Oh love that will not let me go I rest my weary soul in Thee I give Thee back the life I owe That in Thine ocean depths its flow May richer, fuller be Oh joy that seekest me through pain I cannot close my heart to thee I trace the rainbow through the rain And feel the promise is not vain That morn shall tearless be Oh cross that liftest up my head I dare not ask to fly from thee I lay in dust, life's glory dead And from the ground there blossoms red Life that shall endless be Derek

Abide with Me The Lord's My Shepherd ................................................... Jerusalem Written by William Blake And did those feet in ancient time Walk upon England's mountains green And was the holy lamb of God On England's pleasant pastures seen And did the countenance divine Shine forth upon our clouded hills And was Jerusalem builded there Among those dark Satanic mills Bring me my bow (my bow) of burning gold Bring me my arrows of desire Bring me my spears o'clouds unfold Bring me my chariot of fire I will not cease from mental fight Nor shall my (my) sword sleep in hand 'Til we have built Jerusalem In England's green and pleasant land 'Til we have built Jerusalem In England's green and pleasant land
