Didn't know any hymns so let my parents choose one and in laws chose one. If I went and got my order of service out the loft I could tell you but otherwise haven't a clue

Praise my soul the king of heaven & morning has broken - 20 years ago this June. My husband got a clump when he suggested 'For those in peril'

I know which one we WANTED. The vicar had only written down a couple of words from the hymn chosen. The organist thought it was a completly different one and on the day struck up the unknown tune to words nobody knew. My husband and I just looked at each other as everyone tried to muddle through. I had chosen 'Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the king of creation'..... our school hymn. Hubby liked Dear Lord and Father of Mankind....... A lovely hymn but I didn't think the line Forgive our foolish ways was what we needed at the service.

We definitely had Love Divine but can't remember the others. I wanted Jerusalem but because HE is Welsh he said no! HE's now history! Daisy

Same as you CB - had a lot of Welsh rellies on hubby's side, plus Love Divine. Stella

Sue Report 24 Mar 2006 11:58

We had Moring has broken as well, I'd never heard it in a wedding before, but seems everyone used it! To Him we come, The Lord's my shepherd (a modern-for the time-version) Thine be the Glory, and a song that the worship group had written, as it was never published you wouldn't know that one! It was over thirty years ago, I'd pick some great ones now, but as I'm not getting remarried, it's not an option! Suex

Stella, We had Welsh rellies on both sides. As soon as the vicar got to the part about choosing hymns, he said, 'Don't tell me - let me guess.' because of my (first) husband's name! LOL And very well sung 'Bread of Heaven' was too! CB >|<
