We had 'The Lord's My Shepherd' and 'Praise my Soul the King of Heaven' and I also wanted 'At the Name of Jesus' (the new version which we did at school) but the organist only knew the old tune which none of us recognised. Carolyn |

We also had 'Praise my soul, the King of Heaven' but I can't remember the other(s) now. (I was too busy trying to control myself after I realised that my husband, his best man and the minister were all tone deaf!!!!! Two of them were enthusiastically yelling away, although the best man had the decency to stop after a while) Helen |

Stella, We had Welsh rellies on both sides. As soon as the vicar got to the part about choosing hymns, he said, 'Don't tell me - let me guess.' because of my (first) husband's name! LOL And very well sung 'Bread of Heaven' was too! CB >|< |

We had Moring has broken as well, I'd never heard it in a wedding before, but seems everyone used it! To Him we come, The Lord's my shepherd (a modern-for the time-version) Thine be the Glory, and a song that the worship group had written, as it was never published you wouldn't know that one! It was over thirty years ago, I'd pick some great ones now, but as I'm not getting remarried, it's not an option! Suex |

I know which one we WANTED. The vicar had only written down a couple of words from the hymn chosen. The organist thought it was a completly different one and on the day struck up the unknown tune to words nobody knew. My husband and I just looked at each other as everyone tried to muddle through. I had chosen 'Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the king of creation'..... our school hymn. Hubby liked Dear Lord and Father of Mankind....... A lovely hymn but I didn't think the line Forgive our foolish ways was what we needed at the service. |
