dolls, dolls pram, doll's tea set with my own little table and chair. Offices, with my own desk made by my Dad like the tables and chairs. dolls house with working lights also made by Dad. board games, books dressing cut out dolls five stones (jacks), yoyos, two balls, skipping, french knitting, magic painting books and ordinary painting books, scooter, trike then bike. farmhouse with lead animals. we used to collect and swap beads, we played marbles. But I loved to play with boys toys and luckily had boys of the same age as neighbours so used to play with their cars and meccano and train sets (wind up). don't ever remember being bored. (I was born 1940). Ann Glos |

I don't remember having many toys. Prior to the war bruv had a mickey mouse bike, I had a scooter apart from that I don't remember having much else - not that we really needed anything - Ludo and Snakes and Ladders kept us amused indoors. In wartime Dad did make bruv and I a wooden crane each one Xmas and that was the Biggy apart from the usual Xmas stocking with tin baking trays and pots and pans that I spose most kids had. Oh yes, another Xmas we had to share a Dad-made fort. Otherwise we had balls and bikes and so we were outdoors most of the time making our own amusements, while indoors cotton reels with nails in top - cant remember what the heck they were supposed to do or skewers with a sorta propellor (home-made) which we would play with for hours. By the time the war was over we were getting bit too old for toys but I don't think that we missed out particularly, we had great times in the cubs and scouts. |

Karen, I don't remember Tressy Dolls, but, I did have a Girls World. It was a big dolls head where you could style her hair and put make up on it. I didn't like it very much though it was a freaky looking thing... |

I still have my Spirograph! (not in its original box though) Magic Robot - I go bored with it after about half an hour, when I'd sussed out how it worked. Drove my (younger) sisters mad with it though, cos I was always right! Skipping with plastic-covered clothes line, that really hurt your ankles if you were too slow when 'whipping' |

Clackers were two hard balls....oops that sounds rude....on string and you had to get them to hit each other upwards and downward and keep it going,.......caused some broken wrists and even sore noses but it was fun |
