Have my late mother's recipe book somewhere - she was ace at cakes and pastries - no-one could compare. Used to do the mincepies and sausagerolls for all the family dos - suggested she keep a supply in the freezer for her own funeral but she let us down, there were none there! |

Of course it counts if you have tweaked it a little. Nothing is written in stone, not even our Grans recipes. |

does it count if your version is better because you tickered with the measurements? If so I have been handed down the recipie for victoria sponge cake / fairy cakes and short crust pastry but I have made them better by tweeking the ratios. Also have my ggaunt Bara brith (fruit cake) recipey, but she wouldn't tell a soul what she did that made her's so moist and morrish - we susspect it had something to do with alchohol but we don't for sure. |

Yes I can, but they never turn out as good as Grans. She had Parkinsons before she died, but ever since I was little her right hand always shook, making the cup rattle in the saucer. She always blamed it on beating all those cakes for the village fetes LOL |

Maybe I should start a thread on family recipes. Those recipes that have been handed down to us. Who knows? Those recipes our grandmothers used may have been handed to them by THEIR grandmothers. What do you think? |
