Anne it sounds like the migraines I get! You need to take something cos it won't go on its own and the symptoms could get worse, I actually go numb down one side and can't speak when I get them! Hope you are feeling better soon! Julie xxx

It really does sound like a migraine. Some people get the 'aura state' which is kinda like what you described but may not get the headache bit till later, even the next day sometimes. Take it from a migraine sufferer (though thankfully it's not often) take the strongest painkiller you can (your pain may kick in soon so it's best to be one up on it) and some sorta sugary drink i.e. coke/irn bru and go lie down in a dark quiet room. if you cany manage that till you get home at least get the painkillers/juice down you.And please be careful if your driving coz some people get very giddy or disorientated when migraines attack. Hope you're ok wifie :-)

Jean Durant Report 12 May 2006 15:24

Had it in the week Anne... only mine are black and white (you must be favoured LOL). It's a migraine... sometimes mine is followed by a headache but last week caught it in time and took tablets and the headache was only minor. The nausea seems to disappear when the flashings and swirls go. Jean x.

Janet in Yorkshire Report 12 May 2006 15:34

If it continues, get your blood pressure checked at a chemist. (A friend had this, followed by double vision and it was caused by raised blood pressure) Jay

Slinky

Slinky Report 12 May 2006 15:53

I had something like this and the optician told me it was caused by 'dry eye syndrome'... he gave me eye drops and cured it instantly... having a cry stops it too, so if you can think of something that can make you cry, try it, it may work. Anne:)))
