Oh! I did The Nun's Priest's Tale for O Level - doubt I could make head nor tail of old English now - or has yours been 'translated' ? Chaucer was born in the 1300's - so I would make a guess at ...erm...14th century LOL Mags x P.S Don't your legs work then?

Daniel

Daniel Report 15 May 2006 11:41

Yeah but Fred they say that too. I chose to be there. They can chuck me out anytime. I'm not getting paid for it. And anyway, I set off 30 mins before start of the lesson.

It's 2 and a half miles away. Time I walked it would be time for me to come home again. Chaucer is still in olde English, with good olde Chanutecleer. 'His coomb was redder than the fyn coral, And batiled as it were a castel wal; His byle was blak, and as the jeet it shoon; Lyk asure were his leggs and his toon; His nayles witter than the lylye flour, And lyk the burned gold was his colour'

Not that I really have to explain this, but I will. I left here at 10:45 to depart via bus to the college, a 10 minute journey away. The buses are said to be every 10 minutes. Great. This will be no different to any other day. Or so I thought! I gave it a good half hour but still no buses came; I did not even see one making its return journey. What woe betides me! Here I was, standing a wet bus stop with the lesson starting in a matter of seconds. 'Should I walk and turn up half way through the lesson?' I mused. Thoughts ran through my mind with great speed. The predicament I found myself in caused immense strive within my inner most soul. Alas, it would not be worth it! I turned, and hastily made my way out of the dripping shelter and headed off to my abode. It was an executive and wise decision which I was forced to take. Indeed, knowing full well that I could learn the final few pages of text was not beyond my ken. This is the reason I find myself here today and this is the reason why later, I shall play catch up with my learning and leave it not to time nor bus to dictate my state of education.
