Ahhh...one of those lovely, helpful, polite peeps I'd say. If it was me I'd say who it was so others who might have a match with this person can be warned to stay away. Ttrifley

Hardly in the spirit of things, is it? Surely that's the reason most of us are here, to exchange knowledge and add to trees. Takes all sorts, Lee. Try a bit of charm? Maybe they've had a bad day.

maybe they thought you were winding them up asking for joe bloggs?

If you ignore people like this they think they've got away with it and they'll just keep on doing it to everyone. Trifley

Lee Report 21 Jun 2006 09:52

yes most replies are quite polite, which is a reflection of most of the people on this site, and whether they had a bad day or not doesnt warrant that sort of reply.

This member must be really into family history ...........not! Why are these people here if they are going to react like this, they must like wasting £10 (or whatever) a year membership.

Trifley

Trifley Report 21 Jun 2006 10:20

Why is it that society puts up with rude, ill-manered behaviour from some people? Behaviour, which a generation ago, would not have been acceptable? You people are kind, considerate, helpful and polite and so you make excuses for those who demonstrate bad behaviour. No lack of friends, having a bad day or being tired is EVER an excuse for bad behaviour by adults. Trifley *gets down off soap box and walks off to own corner*

See personally I would reply 'Thanks for your polite reply, I think I can securely say that you are not in my tree from your vocabulary!!' But that's just me and my hatred of rudeness! xx

The polite version is :- What a twit! I'd propbally be sarcastic and say: well as you know this site is about finding relatives and growing your family tree by SHARING INFOMATION to PROGRESS!!! I just thought I'd offer to help you with you try if Joe Blogg is the same person as I have - but now I don't want to after your response. You may just have lost yourself a cousin! Good bye! Don't waste your time with trying to share info with them again, they obviously can't be bothered to help themselves or too stupid to see that others can help them.

I agree whole heartedly with Pink,no excuse for such rudeness.

Woody's Report 21 Jun 2006 10:36

Two wrongs do not make a right! Therefore, I would remain polite at all costs, gritting my teeth in the process. There is no excuse for rudeness, that's so true, but not everyone realises they are being rude. I've forgotten to reply at times, so that's rude as well. I've also supplied info several times to people - info that has cost me money to get on scotlands people - and not always had a thank you. If they use the info and add it to their trees then it's been worthwhile, someone someday will be glad of it. Okay, that's my rant over as well! Have a good day, folks and remember to smile - it confuses people!
