Im doing my damndest on this water colour lark for my course........i ruined one bit of work and now ive just done it again! I give up! Never gonna pass this flaming thing. And to cap it all, i then mixed a wrong colour! Any water colour experts out there please, before i do some thing mad.

Ive just got so mad with it, the palettes are thrown in the sink and now ive got paint ever where, so now im ultra peed off.

Walk away, calm down, do something that will relax you, and then go back to it later. What do you do thats relaxing ? How about a little spot of painting, watercolours... ohh... maybe not lol

Lee I just cant get the tones right when i use grey or black with a colour...its just not even similar to a colour wheel....ive tried adding less/more...what am i doing wrong here? *slaps Gwynne* lol

Donna You been taking painting lessons from Josie have you, Watch out for the finger paints,not called that for nothinf,once on fingers ,wont come off.xx

Gwen, i think she can do better than im doing today lol. Ive got a study day, but its not til 11th Sept.........i really need to get this right as its a proper exam bit of work.

My daughter is an illustrator not done any painting for a while since having the kids but she will be round tomorrow if you don't get sorted let me know what you are stuck with and I will ask her see if she can help.. She specialised in water colour. And though I say it myself is very good. Germaine. x

I know ..I know ..i know whats wrong Josie dont wear any clothes when she paints in the garden, its easier i plonk her i the bath

I have two rooms to paint (lounges), the drawing is done....i now have to paint each room, one warm colours, one cool. Its when im adding blacks or greys for the different hues...no matter what i do, according to the colour wheel, they are very wrong. Im fine with the white adding though. Oh help. Emailed my tutor, but no word yet.

That's strange because I was always taught never to use white or black in watercolour, lol !!!! I use Payne's grey if I have to darken tones or create shadow (as shadow is rarely jet black). To lighten tones you need to look at one of the paint charts (Windsor & Newton artist watercolours are the best) where it will show you the paint tones. I use a lighter tone, then go along the chart to pick a darker one in the same group. :0)) Joan xxxxx
