Another tip - If you have glass ornaments etc. on your windowsills, there is a danger that they can act like a magnifying glass with strong sun directly on them and scorch soft furnishings, or worse still, set fire to them. Mags xx |

Ohh - Elaine, I've got a floor standing tower fan with a timer and also one on my bedside table. Got out of the shower last night and went to bed dripping wet and lay on a towel with the fans on full blast. That was the first time I had been cool all day. It was wonderful! If you haven't already - try it. Mags xx |

All pure fruit juice is sugar based, even if its natural, friuit juices are great for breakfast as smoothies, but to drink them all day to keep you hydrated isent really a good Idea, they will make you much more thirsty and not help. mixed with water they will hydrate you and keep your energy levels up. A cup of tea is also a good idea, it will quench your thirst hydrate you and keep your body temperature even, too many cold drinks can give you a bad stomach in extreme heat. |

Yes PLEASE be careful. we have a lad here in our town who can climb through the tiny little windows at the top... you know the ones I mean? And he will get into ANY house. So be sure to shut ALL your windows. He cannot be the only thug who can get in through a *letter box*...... :-0) Deanna X |

I am glad somebody (Mags I think) mentioned the dangers of glass. When I was a teenager many many moons ago the family were about to go out in the afternoon when dad noticed smoke coming out the side door of the garage. A bottle of water (yes it was) on a noggin had caught the suns rays and the wall lining was beginning to smoulder. Lucky we didnt go out an hour earlier. |

another tip. when you're gardening or sunbathing, make sure the doors out of view are locked. A neighbour went to weed his borders, went back inside an hour later and found his TV missing. Had left side door unlocked. |
