Ive noticed lately that the palms of my hands are reddened. When I was cutting the hedge I actually thought the dye must have come out of the shears (which have bright pink handles) because my hands were so red. Today my husband commented on it. Id just been using the hoover and he asked why my hands were so red. When I looked at them there were even little red creases on the inside of my fingers. It almost looks like a rash under the skin of the palms - sort of mottled. Am I in trouble here??

I can't really say for everyone, but my hand went like that when I was first pregnant. Could that be a possibility.....

LOL Mel, Im the other end of that spectrum now! May be thats the reason, the old menopause. How many things can we blame on that, eh? Lynn, no, my mother used to have that and its not a place where you would get it really and it doesnt itch like that.

Heather Report 30 Jul 2006 13:07

No Ruth, it seems like pressure makes its worse but its there all the time now. What with that and my palpitations I was frightened it was a sign of heart probs. LOL Mel, it would have to be an immaculate conception if that were the case!!

I have had something like this for years and years doesn't itch nor is it sore just bright pink. The doctor once commented on it when I was having toruble with my wrist and elbow but when said it had been like that years didn't he bother. No idea what it is but doesn't bother me. Germaine x

Germaine, I think we must have the same doctor - If I went in with two heads hed say it was the menopause or anxiety.

Might be a slight circulation problem Heather. Does your hand feel puffy at all?

Germaine Report 30 Jul 2006 13:23

Heather lol True but they couldn't blame this on age I was in my 20's when it first started did go to doctors then he said 'change your washing powder' never went back then this other doctor noticed it when I said it had been there years he just shrugged !!!! Well I have had it over 30 year now so don't think I will worry about it now lol, though do wonder sometimes what it is exactly. Germaine x

Ive just whipped my sandals off to look at my feet. Certainly the soft bits are red, but I guess that could be pressure. My hands feel a bit sort of stiff or tight. What is hand, foot and mouth virus - the Ag. Ministry wont be coming round in space suits will they? Off to google it.

heather, i wont go into detail, but it could well be a problem with your liver, a simple liver function test would be advised. bryan.

Germaine Report 30 Jul 2006 13:29

No Germaine, I think we wont be incinerated (poor animals, what a total c*** up that was), it says little blisters come up and there is an incubation period of 3-5 days so its not that - as this has been ongoing for a good few weeks now. Oh Brian, I do hope not, got enough probs on my plate. Im not a great drinker or anything. I wonder if its just something to do with the hot weather if a few have noticed it lately - or are we all of the same age?

If your hands and fingers are still as red tomorrow I would have them checked out with your GP it could just be an allergy but red palms and fingers also could point to your liver too Paul

Hi Heather, I hope you are a real positive thinker not just a name as you have gone from being pregnant to foot and mouth and then maybe a liver problem. I think you should delete this thread now as you may not sleep tonight LOL.. Mel
