Im wondering if its just the blood vessels are dilated near the surface cos of the heat and then when you do things like hoovering or chopping hedges down the pressure on your skin makes it more apparent (she says, grasping at straws - or beetroots) On the upside, Im ready if anyone invites me to a Sikh wedding.

I get bright redness quite often on the part of my palms from my little finger to my wrist. Have never really thought anything of it - just that I'm probably weird lol so will be watching this thread with interest! Maz. XX

Hi Heather my hands and feet are like that but I have had it for a very long time I drink very little, and I know what you mean about the beetroot look as at the bottom of my foot I have a red mark the shape of a beetroot and that is the colour of my palms and up the sides of my feet. bit worried now about the liver thing. Rod, funny you should say that, because thats what it reminded me of. In the old days ............. when you cooked the beetroot and then cut it up this is the sort of staining you got on your hands.

Oh gawd, I think I may nip in to the surgery nurse tomorrow - I suppose she will larf at me. Thanks for all your input guys. The positive thinker name is an irony - I used to be called Heather Totally confused and then I decided if I changed it to Positive Thinker maybe that would have a beneficial effect on me! :}}}

Just found this answer to a question. I don't drink either only occasionally so it isn't that for me. Germaine x I guess I must be normal after all this time -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Its just a tinge of red on the palmar side of both hands. There are many causes for palmar erythema. Other clinical manifestations are taken into account. For a patient to have palmar erythema his liver must be failing. Other signs of liver failure will be present. If for example the redness is limited to one hand that is accompanied by pain this could point to inflammation. In some cases its even constitutional (meaning normal for some people to have red palms

Hi Heather, I hope you are a real positive thinker not just a name as you have gone from being pregnant to foot and mouth and then maybe a liver problem. I think you should delete this thread now as you may not sleep tonight LOL.. Mel

If your hands and fingers are still as red tomorrow I would have them checked out with your GP it could just be an allergy but red palms and fingers also could point to your liver too Paul

No Germaine, I think we wont be incinerated (poor animals, what a total c*** up that was), it says little blisters come up and there is an incubation period of 3-5 days so its not that - as this has been ongoing for a good few weeks now. Oh Brian, I do hope not, got enough probs on my plate. Im not a great drinker or anything. I wonder if its just something to do with the hot weather if a few have noticed it lately - or are we all of the same age?

heather, i wont go into detail, but it could well be a problem with your liver, a simple liver function test would be advised. bryan.

Ive just whipped my sandals off to look at my feet. Certainly the soft bits are red, but I guess that could be pressure. My hands feel a bit sort of stiff or tight. What is hand, foot and mouth virus - the Ag. Ministry wont be coming round in space suits will they? Off to google it.

Heather lol True but they couldn't blame this on age I was in my 20's when it first started did go to doctors then he said 'change your washing powder' never went back then this other doctor noticed it when I said it had been there years he just shrugged !!!! Well I have had it over 30 year now so don't think I will worry about it now lol, though do wonder sometimes what it is exactly. Germaine x

I have had something like this for years and years doesn't itch nor is it sore just bright pink. The doctor once commented on it when I was having toruble with my wrist and elbow but when said it had been like that years didn't he bother. No idea what it is but doesn't bother me. Germaine x
