Deb - The Leg Bones Connected To The.. Report 2 Aug 2006 12:19

Erm..... my body clock seems to have gone haywire. Forgotten when the nights are and when its day. Cant believe shes 4 weeks old tomorrow. Four weeks of broken sleep (cant believe im not dead). Probably would be if it wasnt for my husband doing some nights down stairs and leaving me to sleep. So you think if i passed my calender around you could all put yourselves down for one days babysitting. You never know i might fill the whole month and get some serious sleeping done. LOL PS. Anyone have any problem solving methods for babies that wont burp. It really irrates her and she cant seem to get it out until a couple of hours later, when shes been crying about it for a while. Ive tried infacol (worked for abit but now shes worked out how to spit it out) and tryed Colieff (cant tell whether thats much use or not; but really expensive).

Tried lying her on my lap, over my shoulder and sitting up. But we're still lucky if she does one even after an hour of trying.

Hi Deb i would volunteer for a week. I used to give mine a drink of fennel juice in between feeds, helps with the digestion. Very weakly watered down with cool boiled water and also used to lay them across my knee and rub their backs. Lisa xx

Meeeeeeee! Mine are lunking great big teenagers and although I never thought I'd be the one to say it - I miss the baby times! How far away are you? Is she old enough for Fennel yet?? Ask the midwife/health visitor. Jen x snap Lisa !!! mine loved the Fennel and I still drink fennel tea now - great for the windypops!

Deb try a little warm water just after her bottle - pre boiled - then cooled down. It worked a treat with all three of mine and a bath can help to settle her down a bit. But baby massage is a very good wind relief. Lay little one down on something very comfy and gently rub belly - should work - health visitor was always on about it when my second had really bad colic - or just have to put her up on shoulder - like u would to wind her and pace the room for hours on end. Also found music calmed him right down. Good luck - would do a night shift but after 4 and half years of broken sleep think i derserve a good nights sleep myself lol

Hi deb My son suffered with colic really badly for a few months - the only thing that really worked was a bath. It did seem to relax him which helped bring the wind up. The more he cried, the more air he gulped down - was a vicious circle for a while. Hope it passes soon S x

Deb,Try and sit her on your lap with her head slightly tilted in the air and her body very straight. If not lay her down until she cries and when you pick her up she should wind then.Wished i could help with the shifts.Think i have done very well as i have helped out with all my 9 grandkids. The youngest only 10 months so still got a hand in.(It does get better) Annie

MMm who said it gets better after a couple of years?........ my little mmmm angel is now 2 1/2 years old. He takes 2hrs to go to sleep after shouting at me to go in & see him every 5mins, wakes up at some ungodly hr (last nite it was 12:30am) and if I don't get up to him he gets himself up & bangs on either mine or my parents door shout I want cuddles mummy! cute it may sound but after 3/4 weeks it begins to lose its appeal!! Anyone want a really well behaved (except at night) toddler? Following on from wat someone said about dummies, I never used a dummy on my little man, up until he was 12weeks old if he needed comforting he had cuddles & sucked on my (clean) little finger. After this age he wasn't interested!

i thought my 1st one was bad with wind until i found out he was lactolose intolerant and he went onto soya milk and that cured the problem. But might not be the same problem with yours though Debbie

Trouble with sleeping when she sleeps, if that i work 9-5 from home. I have the company phone here and cant turn it off as i get paid to answer it. So i cant go to sleep when she does during the day :( Unfortunatly i need the money and my boss (my uncle) has been briliant.

wilde childe... if you dont mind me asking how long ago was this? I ask because i know the gripe water they make now isnt the same as the old stuff. There made of different things now. just incase it makes any difference.

Linen Report 2 Aug 2006 13:59

Deb, one of the ingredients they took out of gripe water was alcohol, maybe a drop of brandy would help. lol My son had what they called three month colic in those days & we used to take him out in the car for a couple of hours, stopped crying as soon as we set off. Was in a carry cot though so when we got home it was just a case of out the car into the bedroom. Don't suppose that's much help. Vivienne xx

Debs Tiddler was the only one I had trouble with and used Grip water none of the otherws worked for her. She used to scream and I mean scream from 9pm til 2 am. Amazing whats on the telly at that time of night. A dummy helped her but after a bit she wouldn't have it so had to put up with the screaming for about 12 weeks.
