I'm not sure Marie, but isnt' there a link to the website on your program, in the troubleshooting section I woudl think, where you could ask about that. Usually, later versions will pick up older versions and just update them with the new features, but I would ask first just to be sure. |

Ok I received the FTM for Christmas 2005 and it also came with the free 3 months (this was bought in the USA), I called them as I already had a sub though it was due to run out in 2 weeks or so, and to call back. I did and told them I didnt need the USA Version as all my family are British, so instead of giving me 3 months they gave me 6 months free. Give them a call they were so helpful. Debs x |

Yep, £19.99 per month membership to ancestry after the 30 day trial, and that is the USA site. However, the FTM disc itself, for me is not a con, it's got everything I need for now, and if I do want to upgrade later when I have lots mor information, then I have discounts off any future versions of FTM. The book comes from the 'Teach Yourself' Series, so I'm impressed right away. I taught myself to type using one of those books, and my mother taught herself book-keeping from one as well. They have been around years and are excellent. The only disappointing thing about this weekends Independent offer is the subscription to Ancestry. I don't have a credit card so I can't even join, I cannot find an option for cheque payment. |

Well I'm using the Family Tree programme. Its not a 30 day trial, but it is basic, though I can add photos, it has a scrapbook, reports and references, it searches online, it's printable, and fully editable, with maps and other references, so I'm quite happy with it. Obviously there is an upgrade option, but so far this is enough for me. Thank you the Independent. |

Did anyone take up the offer in the Daily Mail last year to have a book printed. I typed up my family history, added some photos and the book came out great. I'm hoping they do the offer again as I've got loads more info now the 1841 census is out. |

I know Harold, and from a sales point of view its a brilliant one lol. The book that comes with it tomorrow should be good though. 244 pages of information. |

Kris I noticed PC world were offering FTM with a one year sub to Ancestry. I'm glad you said it was the USA one, I was thinking about getting that. Won't bother now. You're right, there is no such thing as a free lunch, and I couldn't see how the Independent could offer the full version of FTM 2006 for free when its still on sale in the shops for £30 - odd. |

I also found that my free subscription to Ancestry on my FTM only gave me the American one - I don't think there is such a thing as a free lunch ! |
