ovaltine sandwiches when they were a child ? if dad was left to do our tea thats what he used to let us have and sometimes sugar sarnies if there was enough the ovaltine ones were gorgeous cant see a tin of ovaltine without thinking of my dads tea time treats xxLynnxx

That was very 'up market' Lynn. I remember sugar sandwiches or golden syrup ones. I do remember helping myself to a small spoonful of Bournvita powder. Obviously I wasn't clever enough to think of it as a sandwich filler though. Gwyn

Syrup sarnies - lovely - trouble was I used to make a sticky mess everywhere when making them. Oooohhhh happy times and happy memories. My dad used to cook breakfast on a Sunday while we went to church - could eat one of those breakfasts now. Never will loose weight will I??? Mary

my gran up north allways used condensed milk in her tea, it was lovely we never had that in our house mores the pity i even remember making icing sugar sarnies when no-one was about yes i allways have had a sweeeeet tooth xxLynnxx

can anyone remember Kipling fruit pies, not the small ones and not family ones but ones the size of saucers, used to have them for pudding with evaporated milk on.

i had an uncle that drove a mr kippling delivery van and at the end of the day when there was any stock left or it was just about out of date he used to fetch it round for my mum as she was a childminder used to love my uncle jim or was it his cakes i loved !!! xxLynnxx

My dad used to have cold mince or liver in sandwiches. Also I saw him once with a bar of chocolate in his sandwich.

I remember being told that brown sauce sandwiches were very good, so went into the larder and found a bottle of what I thought was brown sauce, made the sandwich and ate it. It was anchovy essence !!!!! Cant stand anchovies now brenda
