I just removed things from my home that shouldn't be here.... as you all know I got divorced last year and I have just thrown out all my engagement and wedding cards from my memories box.... I have kept a couple of pictures from the wedding, but that's it!! I decided to stop letting the past affect my future.... So hopefully, I have paved the way for that someone special (whenever he chooses to arrive) who really deserves to be in my heart and let go of the one who doesn't! Here's to the pain stopping for all of us in 2007! |

Good for you Pink, what an achievement ! Lets hope you find the right one in 2007. Shelli, I hoarded the kids things and decided to buy a big see-through crate with a lid for each of them and put selected toys, clothes, shoes, school books, cards etc relating to each of them in.They then got to choose a few personal things they wanted and we got rid of everything else. This way they have all their bits from baby-hood onwards and they know exactly where they are (stored in the loft with their names on) When they are ready to leave home permanently they will have their crate of memories to take with them. Hi Shelli, A clear out can't help with a feeling of gloom but morning mist on a meadow, frost on a spiders web,a beautiful sunset, the secret smile on your daughters face as she sleeps.......they can! Cheer up....OR ELSE !!!! Dave x |

Wait until they are a bit older Shelli and sit down with them and let them help you decide. My kids were all for slinging everything which is why I put in their first babygrow, pair of shoes, a really nice dress/romper suit, first toy, etc. When they saw what I had done they then wanted to add things that gave them special memories. Bryony often asks me to put special mementoes in her crate and Nic and Josh know their stuff is there for them when they want it. Viv |

I think there comes a time when you know its right to let go and move on. Its not easy cos the past is part of you, but, the future is also part of your path, Cant be easy letting go, but you need to move on Shirley |

Daughter just threw out 20 year old feather quilt from her first marriage, used daily, even though she has been happily remarried for 13 years. She just couldn't believe she had kept it so long.!!!! Sunny R |

Well done Diana, I am sure you will move forward next year in leaps and bounds. I am the world's worst hoarder, mine has become an ocd, so well done to all of you who have managed to get rid of things and I love the idea of the memory boxes. Liz |
