Don't have bat's, so don't need to worry about them. They all say they are safe for cat's and dog's but, will effect hamsters, gerbals etc. Still nothing in the trap since the other day. It has been wet and wundy here but not cold enough to bring the 'little guests ' indoors. Thank's everyone for your replies. Marion

Marion My dad lived in a lovely old house and had mice which used to drive him mad. Im sorry to say i used to love watching them come out and climb up the big brick fireplace (they never used to be bothered about us) but i didnt have to live there and listen to them running around at night! Im sure he used the ultrasonic device to get rid of them, as they never came back.

I don't use any electric mouse repellant as we have Bats at various times of the year and there are protected by Law, and you cannot disturb them in any way so remember that.

Hi Marion,i know what you mean,i love animals and wouldn't hurt one for the world ,but i hate cats,or dogs fouling my garden because of the risk to my grandchildren when they come to stay, muck from either animal ingested,or reaching the bloodstream via a cut can ,and sometimes does cause permanent blindness. It's all so avoidable, being known to some pet lovers that starting cats off with litter trays as kittens ,then putting the litter trays in the garden later as pussy grows up ,will keep that animal using the tray all the time .These cats would be welcome in my garden, giving me the chance to pick them up and stroke them[can't have one in the house because of Liz's empysema],and i do miss my childhood pets so much.,so ,come on you so called pet lovers ,show some reponsibility and train your pets ,and yourselves lol.Fred.

Fred My cat is a house cat. Any other cats I have had were outdoor. I hate it when you find a cat had been doing the loo in the garden. It is annoying but..I like cats,so I put up with it. If I see one in the garden I chase it though, making sure there are no cars abour first lol. Marion

Hi Mike, We had a terrible problem with ants In the kitchen, they were just everywhere, it happened over night, got up in the morning and we had a sea of them. Im a huge animal/nature lover but I really didnt want to share my kitchen with a field of ants!lol Hubby found this gadget in one of the shops here,we pluged it in and waited, after 2 hours you could see them moving in a steady line into a tiny crack in the wall, never to be seen again!! MAGIC;-))

marion what you need is one hungry fox, tis true , i have the knoledge. you see every week i put out a mouse trap near my shed and every couple of days go and check it , it would be gone. hey id say to my oh we have very strong mice if they can still run with a trap on their tails. this went on for 7weeks,till one night i could not sleep so sat on the step chilling ( as you do) at 2 in the morning ,i heard a click and thought thats the trap, within seconds along came the fox across the hedge jumped down to the grass along to the shed picked up the mouse and trap and over the fence he went . heres me thinking i was going mad ? dawn x

Jac Report 11 Jan 2007 20:29

lol - have visions of meeces with headaches (from the flung mothballs finding their targets!) 'OK boys - lets go - she's too good an aim!' Jac ps Ihave heard that the ultrasonic thingies work, but only if they are in the house (ie not in the floor space or roof space where there is unlikely to be power points into which to plug the devices). good luck with the decimation - all rodens should be destroyed! Hazel, the local french all use them,I throw them in the roof space as we have sloping roof. We get the odd mouse try to come in but we are surrounded by fields and livestock so expect a few but very seldom have any problem. xxJill

Jill in France Report 11 Jan 2007 18:15

We live in a very old house in the country and bought lots from QVC and think they are worth the money, careful with some if you have pets. The french throw cheap moth balls in their loft space or anywhere bothered by mice and we do that as well. xx Jill
