Ooppps .had a few drinks and was listening to old song favorites when i suddenly remembered how i met my first love ,lol. It was through the C.B. radio. His was smokey bandit and mine was bookworm ,( don't ask, lol). My dad had i'm sure it was a binatone 40 channel one and he'd bought a walkie talkie with a rubber ariel and he wanted to know just how far it would recieve mum at home, lol. So i went on an eyeball to the tennis courts. If only they'd known as i didn't know him apart from his handle. Trying to remember what the car chashes were called,no it was a fox hunt.Where someone hid and made calls and they were tracked down. Was it channel 18 for copy and top of the shop channel 40. Did use A.M but dad was worried about being caught. We had a small ariel but my boyfriend had a huge ariel, can't think of the life of me what it was called. Had huge amount of friends and had a real laugh with some of the wind ups we had on there, memories, priceless. Tina |

Really laughing reading this thread . . . . Remembering when you used cb radios . . . indeed !! You make it sound like something out of a museum . . . pmsl They are still the only communications that work around my families sheep station in outback . . . 75,000 acres and when you are out in the paddock thats what you use . . . in fact even in smaller farming areas it is the method of communications between home and the tractor! Truckies still use them here and many folk still have them in their cars . . . With the size of our country I doubt they will ever really disapear! cheers Laurie |

Great fun for those in the know, but the illegal sets caused a lot of people to have to spend a lot of money, buying new model radio control equipment.......... Bob |
