Sitting remembering the past,omg not really old as of yet,but playing songs of the early 80's and remembering first love songs. Then suddenly remember what it was that had bought us together the C.B radio,lol. Does anyone else remember them ? I had a great net work of friends ,i wonder what ever happen to them ? Tina

I remember them, never had one though, we didnt get a telephone until the 80's!! Gosh that sounds really old fashioned doesnt it? I do remember the film Convoy and didnt they use CB? Debs x

i had one when i was about 14 now 42. mum used to coming running in bedroom late to turn it of as messed with there tv and i was at school, but great fun, how things have changed. i was called pigtails, dont ask me why chose that name but few yeras of laughs on it.

Yes,,,,,,but started when it was Illegal!!1978,,,,,,,,handle *Yellow Rose*,,,,First set --Midland 150, 40ch ,,then progressed to Jumbo upper/lower sidebander PDL2 twig -------------,then went legal!!!1981,,,,,,,,,what fun,,,,,,,,,*Dx--ing* sidebanding (QSL)all over the world when the -*Skip* was right,,,,, still have 2 unused mobile sets,,,,,,,,, Are yours the licence ones Bryan??

I am goldilocks :-) We had one in the bedroom & one in my brothers car so he could say when he was coming home! An early sort of mobile phone :-)

Great fun for those in the know, but the illegal sets caused a lot of people to have to spend a lot of money, buying new model radio control equipment.......... Bob

Really laughing reading this thread . . . . Remembering when you used cb radios . . . indeed !! You make it sound like something out of a museum . . . pmsl They are still the only communications that work around my families sheep station in outback . . . 75,000 acres and when you are out in the paddock thats what you use . . . in fact even in smaller farming areas it is the method of communications between home and the tractor! Truckies still use them here and many folk still have them in their cars . . . With the size of our country I doubt they will ever really disapear! cheers Laurie

My daughter met her boyfriend talking on the CB she was 14 at the time , now 20 years later they are married with a beautiful baby daughter..

Tweety Pie was my handle. It was not the same after they made it legal. I spent many an hour up on the mountain DX ing with my 100watt burner. Golf Whiskey 01 Spoke to many many countries and still have all my QSL cards in the attic. Through the CB i also met my husband and we have been married 24 years. Wow that sounds a long time ago lol. Aaah the good old days !!!

I met my first husband thro the CB radio.... Used to be up till hours chatting away.... Guess it was the way to communicate before online chatting. J)xx

Hi Bob,,, That was because of the wave lenght-- and band width----I caused havoc ,as standard 4-5w,but increae of 100w burner not a peep,,,,,!))))))

I used to have one, and I was always on at 4am feeding 1st born, and I got chatting to a nice man who was just about to start his shift, I never met him, but it made having to get up early pleasent. Bev

Aged 18, 1982.......I was addicted to my CB radio, my handle was Rebel Rouser, I remember some of the lingo A Meet up was called an Eyeball. a partner was called a Seat Cover.
