My Daughter (27) still calls me Mummy on occasion, signs cards and stuff to Mummy too, one of my Sons (25) now calls me Mumma (lol) the 3 other Sons call me Mum, 35, 33, 23 and 11yr old uses Mummy when he is sick (so does 25yr old!), wants something or comes to tell me he loves me. So they never really seem to lose the use of it, it seems to come in handy when they want something... Nanna-Moo ;-)))

I'm in my forties and still refer to my mum as Mummy (usually when talking with my siblings) - although when speaking directly to her it's just Mum. My daughter was probably around the 8-10 yrs mark when she switched from calling me Mummy to Mum. She laughs when she hears me or my sisters talking about our 'Mummy', she says we sound like a bunch of little kids LOL. Athena

I always thought that only the 'posher' kids (no offence to any one intended) called their parents mummy and daddy, but my soon to be 13 year old stills calls us mummy and daddy. I must admit I find it hard to refer to OH as Dad when he is in the company of his friends. I dont want to embarrass him but that is the way its always been with us. Im sure he will stop soon tho... Thinking about it, not even sure if he still believes in father christmas as hes never said anything about it, even when Ive tentatively raised the subject with him in the past, hes not given me a straight answer!! Perhaps Ive bought him up too naieve (!?!?)... Clare x

I stopped calling my mother 'mummy' at 13 when all my friends laughed at me. All my children call me Mum (youngest is 15) except when they want something. About the posh people hypothesis. I have some friends whom you might consider 'posh' whose children say Mum, even the 5 yr old, and, to be a tease, the only family I know who refer to themselves as mummy and daddy are really ordinary nice people but who, if I dare say it, feel they are something different. If you catch my drift!! Good friends of mine but with a few pretensions! I love 'em just as they are though!!!!
