Puss I want to do something to raise awareness as close to home as possible. I haven't met one person who hasn't frowned when I've told them what I've got. |

Puss - so sorry to hear about your son. I cannot do much here in Spain but if it would help I could make some cards that perhaps you could sell. You could perhaps doi a bring and buy sale - do they still do that in UK? Anyway the offer is there if you want mate. Love Mary xx |

How about: Putting a notice up in shop windows, in local papers asking if anyone who has or knows somebody to contact us. I am sure that anyone who has this will be as keen as us. The more in the group the stronger we will be. Then we could have a meeting and discuss ideas together. |

I thought of making a dress and having a print of the body scanned onto it, with red cross marks on all pressure points. |

We could book local community centre then contact local radio to advertise - if I heard somebody mention the word Fibromyalgia I would turn the radio up full pelt> |

How about the girls in the birthday card club - we could raise funds with them. |

I have done extensive research on the internet re Fibro and one of the things they suggest could cause Fibro is road accident - I was in a bad one when very young. I applied for my GP records last week and they have just rung to say they are ready!! |

Couldn't we start our own website up? |

|
Lillyann | Report | 3 May 2007 09:45 |

We could start today - just by having a t-shirt printed with: FIBROMYALGIA & red crosses on the upper tender points. Trousers with lower tender points. (Never did like wearing dresses). |

How about standing in local supermarket with a board advertising it and asking peeps to come forward if they were interested? I know my local would let me. |

We could get in touch with Fibro UK and see if they have any leaflets and flyers etc that they could provide us with. If not, we could design our own. As long as we get permission to type up the info we have already. |

Or we could tell them our own personal story Life before Fibromyalgia versus Life with Fibromyalgia |

Puss, put my name down for making cards, mini album books etc, if you are having a fundraising fayre or similar..Perhaps you could add something to the Birthday girls thread to see if anyone else is interested in helping you. Heather x |

Thanks for the support Heather. Another thing we could do is see if one of the bigger stores in town centre would let use their shop for the day to raise awareness. We could sell the cards & Heather's mini albums. We need to find out where to get the money holders Do you know when you think back to all the times you've seen these peeps, how close to their heart it is. And how very grateful they are to you when you pop some change in for them. It makes you feel good doesn't it, then you walk on and carry on with your life and not give another thought to the fact that you have helped to raise funds for a very important project!! |
