Hi Joyous, OH works in the prison service and believe me, the prisoners are running the shop!!!! A subject VERY close to my families heart, The smoking ban will be implimented in the work shops where OH is but he says they will riot as they believe they are above the law!!!!2 instructional officers have died off lung cancer, very probably passive smoking causure, Caz xxx

When the No Smoking ban comes in, prisoners are exempt, yet prison officers who smoke will not be allowed to smoke in the prison. Apparently prisons are classed as 'homes'.

I suspect someone has got the decimal point in the wrong place. £38.50, or £14,000 per year is closer to the mark. Still a lot of money, though, given there are nearly 100,000 of them.

peter if you have sky news that figure was from there. kriss i agree its wrongxx my point is if everyone gave a pound like everyone,even those on income support ,just for a week ,would it be enough to build one prison.also let the prisoners labour as part of there punishment xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Bring back capital punishment, it keeps the numbers down, full sentence for other offenders would be served with no overcrowding, future generations would think twice about a life of crime. Chelsea
