I see a Spitfire Flypast is being planned for him on his birthday. Hopefully it will pass over my house on it's way as he lives not so very far from me :-D :-D :-D. The Spitfire is my number one favourite plane

It appears there are a lot of restrictions on what the money can be spent on.

Michael Ball is doing a version of "You'll Never Walk Alone" with Captain Tom and some NHS choir members which they hope will be at Number 1 in the charts for Captain Tom's birthday later this month.

Had'nt heard about the Spitfire fly past, my son works on Spitfires at Duxford, have to ask him if he knows where it is coming from although he is furloughed at moment.

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 18 Apr 2020 10:49

It is hopefully being organised by Biggin Hill Hilary. Your son is sooo lucky I am not that far from Duxford either. It will be a very fitting tribute to this amazing fella <3

Tom & Michael are top of the pops on the I tune chart.

Hilary Report 18 Apr 2020 14:48

They need to be no 1 next Friday then it will be no 1 on his birthday,
La Gooner, yes he is lucky & loves his job.
Now very near to £23 million, his life will never be the same again, hope he did'nt want a quiet life when he reached 100, not going to get it now but think he willl enjoy it all.

I just read that the Just Giving page takes a proportion of money raised!

They should waive the fees at this time!

Too true Liz, they did donate £100,000 but agree for this they should not take the money. Nearly £25 & half million now.

Apparently he has either been invited as a guest of honour or has been asked to open the Nightingale Hospital at Harrogate.

Two sources saying similar.

Yes he's been invited to open Harrogate Nightingale but he will be doing it by PC.

Just like William and Charles did.

It's great that so much money has been raised.

Just wanted to say to Liz that you can't blame the Just Giving website for taking a proportion of the money raised. The website was designed for charity giving so they couldn't take NO money from one particular charity and then charge all the others. They will have costs to cover like paying credit card fees for each donation made and they also have fees relating to keeping the website online as well as making a small profit.

At the end of the day Captain Tom couldn't have raised anywhere near this amount without Just Giving being there.

Now past £27,000000, True what you say Kathleen, at least it is'nt taken out of the money you donate, there is a charge on top of what you donate, would sooner do it that way instead of them taking it from the donation.
