It was first held ( in 1902) on 24 May Suzanne.....but ended in 1958...then becoming Commonwealth day. |

I used to love Empire Day at junior school. The whole school would march round the school yard carrying flags (mine was always a tiny little thing and I used to envy the "rich" kids who had great big ones). |

Don't remember Empire Day. Dad used to have Trafalgar Day off school as he went to the same school as Nelson (not at the same time though :-D ) |

Glad you have found people that also celebrated Mau, as I have said to you, we didn't celebrate it and I was at school from 1945 to 1956. Maybe it was not a National school holiday but up to local authorities. My primary school was a church of England School, maybe they didn't celebrate such things :-D |
