Just had this while on GR and sure I saw a thread last week asking if anyone else was having a problem,

Just thought I would copy and paste it in anticipation of the rest of GR members complaints about Error messages :-P

Most likely causes: •IIS received the request; however, an internal error occurred during the processing of the request. The root cause of this error depends on which module handles the request and what was happening in the worker process when this error occurred.
•IIS was not able to access the web.config file for the Web site or application. This can occur if the NTFS permissions are set incorrectly.
•IIS was not able to process configuration for the Web site or application.
•The authenticated user does not have permission to use this DLL.
•The request is mapped to a managed handler but the .NET Extensibility Feature is not installed.

Things you can try: •Ensure that the NTFS permissions for the web.config file are correct and allow access to the Web server's machine account.
•Check the event logs to see if any additional information was logged.
•Verify the permissions for the DLL.
•Install the .NET Extensibility feature if the request is mapped to a managed handler.
•Create a tracing rule to track failed requests for this HTTP status code. For more information about creating a tracing rule for failed requests, click here.

Links and More Information
This error means that there was a problem while processing the request. The request was received by the Web server, but during processing a fatal error occurred, causing the 500 error.

Just in case anyone missed this on the Announcements board...

"Site update - 28th August

Post Date

28 Aug 2013 12:03

Hi everyone,

An update on the site performance. The team fixed the problems with the speed of the site last week and have been monitoring it closely over the last few days. Everything should now be running as usual.

Thanks for your patience,

The Genes Team "

Well, that's reassuring to know then, isn't it?

Move along please - nothing to see here.
(in more ways than one)

It is usual for members to get Error messages:-0

Although I must admit apart from the last epidemic i don't often get them :-D

Did anyone else just notice the "testing" by Ann-Marie?

Why are the customer service team getting involved when they informed me only a couple of days ago that they are the customer service department and do not deal with technical difficulties?

OneFootInTheGrave

OneFootInTheGrave Report 30 Aug 2013 13:59

Well I have been out this morning wreaking havoc in the shops on my mobility scooter - just got home and checked the threads, from what I can see, I have to agree everything is running as usual ;-)

There are still reports of the site running slow
Some posts are still being duplicated
The error message is still appearing
Appears GR are still giving out conflicting and inconsistent information

Good on ya GR for getting things back to normal :-S

Had no idea what this was all about. Till I just had this 500 error for first time. Yes, makes a change. Can we please have all these error messages in different colours?

JustJohn

JustJohn Report 31 Aug 2013 09:38

Just had 500 again. Followed by normal green "an error has occurred". Seems like it might be a hard weekend for some hoping to get some pleasure from this site.

No doubt it will all be made better after the weekend. :-( :-(

Oh dear. It's the "running as usual" that concerns me.
