Hi, this is his parents in the 1881 census, I think they married in Hickling but not 100% sure without looking it up. |

Thank you all for your help and the vast information. Still not sure what happened to Walter Edward though, he seems to have disappeared although I know he was around in 1905 well I think he was, he is obviously named on the birth certificate but as before he's not with Marie in the 1911 census and I can't find a death for him. Am going to bed soon as I have to be up at 4.30 to take a friend to the Airport so if anyone kindly leaves a message I will pick it up either before I go to bed or when I get back tomorrow morning. Once again, thank you to everyone for your help it is much appreciated. |

I hope not after everyone's hard work. It's funny you should say about an electrician as Walter on the birth cert of his daughter Marie Helen in 1906 gives him as an electrician. Am sure it's the right Walter, as I have the right parents etc and on his marriage cert if gives his father as being Robert Day and Robert's occupation as a pensioned police sergeant. I was told sometime ago that he disappeared and all was hush hush as his wife Marie Isabelle Adele Noel went off with an actor Charles Schofield but never married him. The plot thickens. |

Hi again, back from the Airport and have had some sleep. To follow on from my last message last evening, I have just found a marriage for Marie Isobella Adele Day to Charles Schofield in 1944. I suppose it would be a good idea to purchase this marriage cert to see if Marie is given as a widow? Not that I suppose it will help in finding Walter Edward Day. I was under the impression that Marie never married Charles Schofield. The mystery continues for now. |

Have you thought of looking for a death for walter? |

Hi Roy, yes I did but there were as you have found many. Without sending off for all of them it will be hard to tell not unless there's a site that shows the deaths with the birth dates? |

For that year actual date of birth was not listed just the age so it only shows the approximate year, also ages on death certs can often be out because it all depends on the informants knowledge |

Thank you Roy, what I've done now is found quite a few trees on GR with a Walter Day given and I have contacted all the people with birth dates between 1880 and 1884, those that have their Walter listed as being born in London or just on the outskirts otherwise there were about 109 listed. I will keep all the information sent to me from you kind people just in case. Onwards and upwards. |

Hi, what I'll do next week is send off for the marriage cert of Marie and Charles and see what it gives Marie as being ie widowed or divorced but not sure if they put someone being divorced on a marriage cert especially in the 40's. Hopefully one of the people I have messaged might come up trumps. I do love a mystery but even more so if it is solved. Things like this bug me. |
